Beware The Slenderman
''Beware the Slenderman'' (stylized as ''_beware the slenderman'') is a 2016 American documentary film directed by Irene Taylor Brodsky about the Slender Man stabbing. It premiered at South by Southwest in March 2016 and was broadcast on HBO on January 23, 2017. Synopsis ''Beware the Slenderman'' discusses the incident in which two girls attempted to murder one of their friends in an attempt to appease Slender Man, a fictional monster who originated from an Internet phenomenon called "creepypasta". The documentary was shot over eighteen months and contains interviews with the families of the two would-be murderers. The film makes use of various YouTube videos to do with Slender Man, in particular footage from '' Marble Hornets'' and ''Tribe Twelve''. Irene Taylor Brodsky
Irene Taylor (born June 15, 1970) is a Peabody and Emmy-winning, Oscar-nominated director and producer whose documentaries have shown theatrically, at film festivals and stream worldwide. Early life Taylor is a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults). Taylor graduated from New York University and Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. Career Taylor began her documentary career in photojournalism. Her first feature documentary, HEAR AND NOW, a documentary memoir about her deaf parents, won the Audience Award at Sundance Film Festival in 2007, a Peabody Award and numerous awards at festivals around the world. It was also nominated by the Producer's Guild of America in 2008 for Documentary of the Year. ''Slender: The Eight Pages'' (originally titled ''Slender'') is a first-person survival horror game based on the Slender Man, an infamous creepypasta (online horror story). It was developed by indie developer Mark J. Hadley with Unity, and released in June 2012 as a beta for Microsoft Windows and OS X by Parsec Productions. In ''Slender: The Eight Pages'', the player must collect eight pages scattered around a dark forest while avoiding the Slender Man, who pursues them throughout the game. It has simple graphics and gameplay limited to walking, running and using a flashlight. ''Marble Hornets'' (abbreviated ''MH'') is an alternate reality game YouTube web series inspired by the Slender Man online mythos. The first video was posted on YouTube on June 20, 2009, following a post that its creator, Troy Wagner, created on the Something Awful forum the previous day. It was the first web-series to be created around the character, with the first episode premiering exactly 10 days after the appearance of the original images of Slender Man on the Something Awful forums, and the first Marble Hornets affiliated post being 9 days after the character’s creation.
