Beverly Bentley (born June 8, 1927) is a Canadian former ice hockey player. He played 618 games as a goalie in the Western Hockey League, playing with the Seattle Bombers, Saskatoon Quakers, Vancouver Canucks, New Westminster Royals, Victoria Cougars, Seattle Totems, and San Francisco Seals. He also played for the Knoxville Knights of the Eastern Hockey League. Seattle Bombers
The Seattle Totems were a professional ice hockey franchise in Seattle, Washington. Under several names prior to 1958, the franchise was a member of the Pacific Coast Hockey League (renamed the Western Hockey League in 1952) between 1944 and 1974. In their last season of existence, the Totems played in the Central Hockey League in the 1974–75 season. They played their home games in the Civic Ice Arena and later at the Seattle Center Coliseum. The Totems won three WHL Lester Patrick Cup championships in 1959, 1967 and 1968. The Totems were one of the few American-based professional clubs to play a touring Soviet team. Western Hockey League (1952–74)
The Western Hockey League (WHL) is a major junior ice hockey league based in Western Canada and the Northwestern United States. The WHL is one of three leagues that constitutes the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) as the highest level of junior hockey in Canada. Teams play for the Ed Chynoweth Cup, with the winner moving on to play for the Memorial Cup, Canada's national junior championship. WHL teams have won the Memorial Cup 19 times since the league became eligible to compete for the trophy. Roy Bentley
Roy Thomas Frank Bentley (17 May 1924 – 20 April 2018) was an English football player and manager. A former forward, Bentley played 367 games for Chelsea and captained the club to their first League Championship in the 1954–55 season. He also won 12 caps for the England national side. Personal life Bentley was born in Shirehampton, Bristol, Gloucestershire and attended Portway Boys Secondary School. He married Violet M. Upton in 1946. Club career Early years Bentley served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War and afterwards played for both Bristol City and Bristol Rovers before signing for Newcastle United in 1946. He was with the club for less than two years, but formed a key part of a forward line which also included Jackie Milburn, Len Shackleton and Charlie Wayman. Maxwell Herbert Lloyd Bentley (March 1, 1920 – January 19, 1984) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played for the Chicago Black Hawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, and New York Rangers in the National Hockey League (NHL) as part of a professional and senior career that spanned 20 years. He was the NHL's leading scorer twice in a row, and in 1946 won the Hart Trophy as most valuable player. He played in four All-Star Games and was twice named to a post-season All-Star team. Bentley was one of six hockey-playing brothers, and at one point played with four of his brothers with the Drumheller Miners of the Alberta Senior Hockey League. Douglas Wagner Bentley (September 3, 1916 – November 24, 1972) was a Canadian ice hockey left winger who played 13 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Chicago Black Hawks and New York Rangers as part of a senior and professional career that spanned nearly three decades. Reginald Stewart Bentley (May 3, 1914 – September 1, 1980) was a Canadian ice hockey player who played 11 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Chicago Black Hawks as part of a 20-year senior and professional career. During his time with Chicago, he played on a line with his brothers Doug and Max, the first time in NHL history that three siblings played on one line. Personal life Bentley was born in Delisle, Saskatchewan. He was one of six boys, and thirteen children overall. His father Bill was a speed skating champion in North Dakota before settling in Delisle, where he became mayor and helped build the town's covered skating rink. The Saskatoon Quakers were an ice hockey team that was based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
