''Between Two Words'' is the second studio album by American alternative rock band Wire Train, released in 1985 by Columbia, and 415 Records. It was the first Wire Train recording with drummer Brian MacLeod. Guitarist Kurt Herr was let go during the recording sessions. Additional guitars were performed by producer Peter Maunu. Wire Train
Wire Train was a San Francisco-based alternative rock band, who released six albums in the 1980s and 1990s. History The band was formed in 1983 by four students from San Francisco State University, Kevin Hunter, Kurt Herr, Frederico Gil-Sola, and Anders Rundblad. They were first known as the Renegades; when they had to change their name, they became Wire Train. The band's first album features Anders Rundblad (bass guitar, vocals), Federico Gil-Sola (drums), Kevin Hunter (vocals, guitar), and Kurt Herr (vocals, guitar). Rundblad had previously played with the Swedish bands Motvind and Gary T'To Band. In June 1983, Wire Train signed to the local 415 Records label, also home to acts like Translator, Red Rockers and Romeo Void, all of which found themselves with national distribution when 415 entered into a deal with Columbia Records. New Wave Music
New wave is a loosely defined music genre that encompasses pop-oriented styles from the late 1970s and the 1980s. It was originally used as a catch-all for the various styles of music that emerged after punk rock, including punk itself. 415 Records was a San Francisco record label created in 1978. The label focused its efforts on local punk rock and new wave music acts of the late 1970s through the late 1980s, including The Offs, The Nuns, The Units, Romeo Void, and Wire Train. Its name, pronounced four-one-five (not four-fifteen), was a play on both the telephone area code for the San Francisco area and the California penal code section for disturbing the peace (indeed, in some promotional material, the phrase "disturbing the peace" was written underneath the 415 logo). Brian MacLeod (American Musician)
Brian MacLeod (born April 27, 1962) is an American recording drummer and songwriter. He has been a member of Group 87, Wire Train, Toy Matinee, and the "Tuesday Music Club" collective along with Sheryl Crow's acclaimed album ''Tuesday Night Music Club''. MacLeod lives in Southern California. Biography MacLeod grew up in Sunnyvale, California and attended Fremont High School from 1972 to 1976. He is a member of The Scrantones, the group credited for performing the theme to the American version of the TV show ''The Office'' (set in Scranton, Pennsylvania). "With God on Our Side" is a song by Bob Dylan, released as the third track on his 1964 album '' The Times They Are A-Changin'''. Dylan first performed the song during his debut at The Town Hall in New York City on April 12, 1963. Lyrics The lyrics address the tendency of Americans to believe that God will invariably side with them and oppose those with whom they disagree, thus leaving unquestioned the morality of wars fought and atrocities committed by their country. Dylan mentions several historical events, including the slaughter of Native Americans in the nineteenth century, the Spanish–American War, the American Civil War, World Wars I and II, The Holocaust, the Cold War and the betrayal of Jesus Christ by Judas Iscariot.
