''Bettada Kalla'' (Kannada: ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಕಳ್ಳ) is a 1957 Indian Kannada film, produced and directed by S. M. S. Naidu. The film stars Kalyan Kumar, Mynavathi, R. Nagendra Rao and Udaykumar in the lead roles. The film has musical score by S. M. Subbaiah Naidu. ''Malaikkallan'' () is a 1954 Indian Tamil-language action film starring P. Bhanumathi and M. G. Ramachandran. The film was released on 22 July 1954, and was an astounding success and highest collection of the year. It ran more than 140 days in Chennai and all other major cities. It was the first Tamil film to win a President's Silver Medal. It was the first Indian movie to be remade in five other languages. Kalyan Kumar
Kalyan Kumar (7 June 1928 – 1 August 1999) was an Indian actor, and an occasional film director and producer who worked primarily in Kannada cinema, Kannada and Tamil cinema. Making his acting debut in the mythological drama ''Natashekara'' (1954), Kalyan Kumar went on to star in over 200 films in a span of over five decades. He was among the much sought after actors in the 1950s through 1970s for lead roles. Kalyan Kumar has the credit of being the first ever Kannada actor to star in a colour film in ''Amarashilpi Jakanachari'' (1963). Alongside Kumar, the 1960s and 1970s in Kannada cinema was dominated by two other actors, Dr. Rajkumar, Rajkumar and Udaya Kumar (actor), Udayakumar. Mynavathi
Mynavathi (26 July 1935 – 10 November 2012) was an Indian actress. She made her first screen appearance as an actor in the 1955 Kannada film ''Santa Sakhu'' and acted in over 100 Kannada films. She was the younger sister of another popular Kannada actress Pandari Bai. She became popular after her role in the 1959 Kannada film ''Abba Aa Hudugi'', which co-starred Rajkumar and her sister Pandari Bai and was directed by H. L. N. Simha. In the film, she played the role of an autocratic girl who hates men. It was based on William Shakespeare's play ''The Taming of the Shrew''. Bommasandra Srinivasaiah Suryanarayana Murthy (16 March 1933 – 26 December 1985), known by his screen name Udaykumar, was an Indian actor and producer in Kannada cinema. He, along with Kalyan Kumar and Rajkumar, were called the ''Kumarathrayaru'' (meaning the three Kumars) of Kannada cinema He has authored many dramas and books. Pakshiraja Studios was a motion picture movie studio in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, established by S. M. Sriramulu Naidu in 1945. The studio predominantly produced movies in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam languages, also having made one Kannada film.
