The South Indian International Movie Awards for Best Director' is an annual award for best director awarded in four categories for Tamil cinema, Telugu cinema, Kannada cinema, and Malayalam cinema films. History The award started in June 2012 by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Brenda Prasad Adusimilli. The tenth edition of the award show will be held in Bangalore on 10 and 11 September 2022. South Indian International Movie Awards
South Indian International Movie Awards, also known as the SIIMA Awards, rewards the artistic and technical achievements of the South Indian film industry. It was launched in 2012 by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Brinda Prasad Adusimilli to appreciate film makers from across the South Indian film industries: Tamil cinema, Telugu cinema, Kannada cinema, and Malayalam cinema, and provide a platform to promote South Indian films in international markets. History The ceremony was instituted in 2012 by Vishnu Vardhan Induri, the founder of Celebrity Cricket League. Adusumilli Brinda Prasad is the chairperson of SIIMA. The Awards are presented in separate parts on two different days. Tamil cinema, also known as Kollywood is a part of Indian Cinema; primarily engaged in production of motion pictures in the Tamil language. Telugu cinema, also known as Tollywood, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Telugu language, widely spoken in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Telugu cinema is based in Film Nagar, Hyderabad, India. The nickname ''Tollywood'' is a portmanteau of the words Telugu and Hollywood. By 2021, it has emerged as the largest film industry in India in terms of box-office. Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. The 1934 film ''Sati Sulochana'' directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film in the Kannada language. It was also the first film starring Subbaiah Naidu and Tripuramba, and was the first motion picture screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom.
