Bessiebelle is a locality in western Victoria, Australia. The locality is in the Shire of Moyne local government area, in what is commonly known as the Western District. It sits approximately west of the state capital, Melbourne, on the Eumeralla River adjacent to the Mount Eccles National Park. Electoral District Of South-West Coast
The electoral district of South-West Coast is an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It was created prior to the 2002 election in order to replace the abolished seats of Portland and Warrnambool. The seat is dominated by the town of Warrnambool, but also includes Portland, Port Fairy, Koroit, Heywood and Macarthur. South-West Coast is located in ancestrally Liberal territory, and was thus a natural choice for Portland's former member, Denis Napthine, to transfer for the 2002 election. He barely held onto his seat in the Labor landslide of that year, seeing his margin reduced to only 0.7 percent. However, it has reverted to its previous form as a safe Liberal seat. The Division of Wannon is an Australian Electoral Division in the state of Victoria. History The division was proclaimed in 1900, and was one of the original 65 divisions to be contested at the first Federal election. The division was named after the Wannon River. For the first half-century after Federation, it regularly traded hands between the Australian Labor Party and the conservative parties. However, a 1955 redistribution removed most of the seat's Labor-friendly territory, and it has been a safe Liberal seat for most of its history since then. The seat's most notable member was Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser, to date the last prime minister from a country seat. Eumeralla River
The Eumeralla River is a perennial river of the Glenelg Hopkins catchment, located in the Western District of Victoria, Australia. Course and features The Eumeralla River rises northeast of Macarthur, and flows generally south, and then west through the town of , before heading south by west until the settlement of Codrington where the river flows east parallel with the coastline, joined by four tributaries including the Shaw River. The Eumeralla empties into Lake Yambuk at the Yambuk Important Bird Area and reaches its mouth south of Yambuk and spills into Portland Bay in the Great Australian Bight. Thomas Alexander Browne (born Brown, 6 August 1826 – 11 March 1915) was an Australian author who published many of his works under the pseudonym Rolf Boldrewood. He is best known for his 1882 bushranging novel ''Robbery Under Arms''. Biography Browne was born in London, the eldest child of Captain Sylvester John Brown, a shipmaster formerly of the East India Company, and his wife Elizabeth Angell, ''née'' Alexander. His mother was his "earliest admirer and most indulgent critic . . . to whom is chiefly due whatever meed of praise my readers may hereafter vouchsafe" (Dedication Old Melbourne Memories).
