Anthony Besch
Anthony John Elwyn Besch (5 February 1924 – 23 December 2002) was an English opera and theatre director. As a young man he worked at Glyndebourne assisting the directors Carl Ebert and Günther Rennert. His first work as an opera director was for Welsh National Opera in 1954. Among other British companies with whom he worked were Opera North, D'Oyly Carte, The Royal Opera, the Aldeburgh Festival and Garsington Opera. He was most closely associated with English National Opera (and its predecessor, Sadler's Wells Opera), Scottish Opera, and the New Opera Company. Besch established an international reputation, and directed operas in continental Europe, North and South America and Australia. He was wary of "concept" productions, preferring to stage operas in a traditional manner, with what the critic Alan Blyth called "his scrupulous eye for what looked good and proved practical on stage." Bibi Besch
Bibi Besch (born Bibiana Maria Köchert; February 1, 1942 – September 7, 1996) was an Austrian-American film, television, and stage actress. She is best known for her portrayal of Dr. Carol Marcus in the science fiction film '' Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan'' (1982). Her other notable film roles were in ''Who's That Girl'' (1987), ''Steel Magnolias'' (1989), and '' Tremors'' (1990). Besch also appeared in a number of television productions, including the television film ''The Day After'' (1983) and ''The Jeff Foxworthy Show'', and received two Primetime Emmy Award nominations. François Besch
François Besch (born 11 April 1963) is a Luxembourgish photographer and artist. Life and work Besch was born on 11 April 1963 in Esch-sur-Alzette. The autodidact has been living and working in Bivange since 2006. In Besch's nature and landscape shots, his primary interest is in conveying feelings or moods. he has also made portrait, street and experimental photography since the 1980s. He uses classic cameras and also a smartphone. In 2011, Besch hosted an exhibition in Luxembourg in which the photographs were created using the Hipstamatic application for the iPhone. In 2013 POST Luxembourg acquired five of his works—portraits of wild mushrooms—which were used on a series of postage stamps. Besch also makes portraits of personalities using a smartphone, among them other photographers John G. Morris, Lucien Clergue and David Hamilton. Perl () is a municipality in Merzig-Wadern, Saarland, Germany. In 2020 its population was 8,824. Geography Overview It is situated on the right bank of the river Moselle, on the border with Luxembourg and France, approximately 25 km southeast of Luxembourg City. It is joined by a bridge across the Moselle with Schengen in Luxembourg and by a second bridge between Nennig and Remich. A fine Roman mosaic has been found in the village of Nennig. Mount Besch
Mount Besch () is a mountain (1,210 m) forming the south end of Barnes Ridge on the east side of Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains. It is overlooking the terminus of Ellen Glacier to the south, Arapya Glacier to the west, and Ranuli Ice Piedmont to the northeast. The mountain was first mapped by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1957–59. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Captain Marvin E. Besch of the United States Air Force (USAF), who participated in establishing the IGY South Pole Station in the 1956–57 season.
