Berrien County, Georgia
Berrien County is a County (United States), county located in the south central portion of the U.S. state of Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia. As of the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census, the population was 18,160. The county seat is Nashville, Georgia, Nashville. The county was created February 25, 1856 out of portions of Coffee County, Georgia, Coffee, Irwin County, Irwin and Lowndes County, Georgia, Lowndes Counties by an act of the Georgia General Assembly. It is named after Georgia senator John M. Berrien. History Establishment The citizens of the area of Lowndes County and Irwin County that would become Berrien County had to travel long distances to get the county courthouse at Franklinville, Georgia and later Troupville, Georgia for those in Lowndes County, and Irwinville, Georgia for those in Irwin County. State Route 135 (SR 135) is a state highway in the south-central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. It connects the Florida state line with Higgston, via Lakeland, Willacoochee, Douglas, and Hazlehurst. It travels concurrently with U.S. Route 221 for extensive distances, a short piece in Lakeland and a longer one from Douglas to Uvalda. Georgia State Route 125
State Route 125 (SR 125) is a state highway that runs south-to-north in an S-shape through the southern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. It travels through Lowndes, Lanier, Berrien, Tift, Irwin, and Ben Hill counties connecting the Valdosta and Fitzgerald metropolitan areas. Route description SR 125 begins at an intersection with U.S. Route 41 (US 41) and SR 7 (Inner Perimeter Road) on the north side of Valdosta. State Route 76 (SR 76) is a state highway in the southern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. It connects the Florida state line, south-southwest of Quitman, with the Nashville area, via Quitman, Morven, and Adel. State Route 64 (SR 64) is a state highway that travels southwest-to-northeast through portions of Berrien, Lanier, Atkinson, and Coffee counties in the south-central part of the U.S. state of Georgia.
