Berri Football Club
Berri Football Club (commonly known as The Demons) is an Australian rules football club playing in the Riverland Football League (RFL) in South Australia. The club has an illustrious history winning many premierships, most recently the A-Grade in 2010. The Club The Berri Football Club headquarters is also the RFL headquarters. The current coach is Clint Ridgeway and the captain is Evan Penaluna. The president of the club is Ronald Foulds. In 2002, the club won the RFL premiership, coming from eight goals down in the second quarter to secure the greatest comeback in an RFL grand final. The club was captained by Sam Ingerson in that year. In 2010 they defeated arch rivals Barmera-Monash to win premiership after finishing on top of the table. Rivalry The club shares a rivalry with Barmera/Monash and competes once a year in the Fisher Cup, named after Bob Fisher, who played with both clubs. Riverland Football League
The Riverland Football League is an Australian rules football league located in South Australia's Riverland region. The league has two divisions - the first division is for the main towns of the Riverland and the second division, called the Riverland Independent Football League, is for the minor towns. Berri Oval
Berri Oval is a cricket ground in the town of Berri, South Australia, Australia. The first recorded match on the ground came when South Australia Country XI played the touring West Indians in 1961. A number of Youth One Day Internationals were held at the ground in the late 1980s. Having never previously held a senior cricket match, it was selected as venue for the 1992 Cricket World Cup, staging a One Day International between Sri Lanka and the West Indies. This match, which is also the only List A game to be staged there, resulted in a West Indies win by 91 runs. Senior cricket hasn't returned to the ground since. In the summer, it is home to the local cricket club the Berri Demons, while in the winter, the football club (also known as the Demons) plays there. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. Tom Waye
Tom Waye (28 December 1909 – 10 February 1992) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Port Adelaide in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and Footscray in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Waye played his earliest football in Willunga and Renmark, before arriving in Adelaide and competing in the Port Adelaide Church Association. He started his Port Adelaide career in 1929, by which time he was also representing the suburb as a district cricketer. On the football field he was used mostly as a follower but when not roving was also seen on the wings and half forward flanks. He was a member of the South Australian interstate team which played in the 1930 Adelaide Carnival. Off the field he worked as a fitter and turner and moved to Melbourne for employment in 1932. Rhys Stanley
Rhys Stanley (born 1 December 1990) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Geelong Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He previously played for the St Kilda Football Club from 2010 to 2014. Stanley was recruited from West Adelaide with pick 47 in the 2008 AFL Draft. He played little football growing up but impressed with South Australia in the AFL Under 18 championships and in two senior games for West Adelaide. Jack Wade (footballer)
John Samuel Wade (3 October 1907 – 11 June 1941) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Port Adelaide in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Playing in Port Adelaide's premiership side in 1928, he represented South Australia on four occasions before being recruited by South Melbourne in 1930 — however, he was not granted a clearance to play for South Melbourne until 1931. Sydney Swans
The Sydney Swans are a professional Australian rules football club based in Sydney, New South Wales. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Swans also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Kaiden Brand
Kaiden Brand (born 8 April 1994) is an Australian rules football player who plays with the West Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian National Football League. He previously played with the Hawthorn Football Club and Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League. AFL career Hawthorn selected him with pick 66 in the 2012 AFL Draft. He spent 2013 developing in the VFL playing for Hawthorn's reserve affiliate side, the , and was a member of their premiership winning side.
