Bernhard Paus (1909–1970)
Bernhard Cathrinus Paus (9 November 1910 – 9 February 1999) was a Norwegian orthopedic surgeon and humanitarian. He participated in humanitarian work during the Winter War in Finland, during the 1940 Norwegian Campaign and during the Korean War, when he served as chief surgeon of the Norwegian Mobile Army Surgical Hospital. He was also the chief physician of the Norwegian Armed Forces (1951–1958) and President of the Norwegian Association for Military Medicine (1954–1955). He was senior consultant and managing director of the Martina Hansen Hospital in Bærum (1964–1980). He was Grand Master of the Norwegian Order of Freemasons from 1969 to 1990. He was married to the noted humanitarian Brita Collett Paus, and they introduced the hospice concept in Norway. Lucie Paus Falck (born 8 May 1938) is a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. She served as a deputy representative to the Norwegian Parliament from Akershus during the term 1989–1993. From 1988 to 1989, during the second cabinet Brundtland, Paus Falck was appointed State Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Labour. Axel Collett (6 August 1880 in Kolvereid – 17 January 1968) was a Norwegian landowner, timber merchant and sawmill owner. He was a co-owner and actively involved in the management of Firma Albert Collett, a firm established by his father, which was and is one of the largest private land owners of Norway. The company owned of land in Namdalen, and built Salsbruket Tresliperi, a sawmill, of which he also served as director. A member of the English-origined Collett family, he was the son of land-owner Albert Collett, the grandson of land-owner John Collett of Buskerud Manor and the great-grandson of Supreme Court Justice and land-owner Peter Collett. Nikolai Nissen Paus
Nikolai Nissen Paus (4 June 1877, in Christiania – 23 December 1956, in Tønsberg) was a Norwegian surgeon, hospital director and humanitarian. He served as President of the Norwegian Red Cross 1945–1947, and as Vice President 1930–1945 and acting President 1939–1940. He was also President of the Norwegian Florence Nightingale Committee and chaired several governmental committees. Career After graduating from Aars and Voss School, Paus entered the Royal Frederick University, where he graduated as a medical doctor in 1903. He also became a second lieutenant in 1896 and a first lieutenant in 1905. He was conferred the dr.med. (D.Sc.) degree in 1916, with a dissertation on tuberculosis. Between 1903 and 1918, he worked at a number of hospitals and visited several foreign hospitals. He was a deputy consultant in surgery at the National Hospital 1912–1917.
