Bernhard Chenaux
Bernhard Chenaux (born 1 September 1939) is a Swiss retired footballer who played in the 1950s and 1960s as forward. Chenaux joined FC Basel's first team in their 1957–58 season under manager Rudi Strittich. After playing in two test matches, Chenaux played his domestic league debut for the club in the away game on 23 February 1958 against Urania Genève Sport as he was substituted in for the injured Silvan Thüler. In the same match he scored his first goal for his club, but this could not save Basel from a 2–3 defeat. 1957–58 FC Basel Season
The 1957–58 season was Fussball Club Basel 1893's 64th season in their existence. It was their twelfth consecutive season in the top flight of Swiss football after their promotion from the Nationalliga B the season 1945–46. They played their home games in the Landhof, in the Wettstein Quarter in Kleinbasel. Jules Düblin was the club's chairman for his twelfth successive period. Rudi Strittich
Rudi Strittich (3 March 1922 – 11 July 2010) was an Austrian association football, football coach and former player. Club career Strittich debuted for SK Vorwärts Steyr, Vorwärts Steyr, and later played for First Vienna FC. While with First Vienna, he went on a tour of the Middle East and upon returning was arrested along with two other players for smuggling narcotics into Austria. Strittich was imprisoned for three months and banned from football for one year by the Austrian Football Association. Unable to play football in Austria, Strittich was recruited by Béla Guttmann to play for Italian club USC Triestina. The Austrian FA would not clear him to play, so he joined Colombian side Unión Magdalena, Samarios, where he could play because the Colombian Football Federation was not at the time affiliated to FIFA. Urania Genève Sport is a Swiss omnisport club based in Geneva. Its football section was founded in 1896. The current club was born in 1922 through a merger between FC Urania and FC Genève. Its main title is the Swiss cup, won in 1929 against Young Boys. This same year, the club is champion of the French part of Switzerland (Champion romand). Silvan Thüler
Silvan "Sämi" Thüler (1 August 1932 – 13 August 2011) was a Swiss international footballer. He played as a defender. After his football career he became restaurant landlord and later manager. Football career Born in Solothurn, Thüler played his youth football with FC Solothurn, advancing to their first team in the summer of 1950. At the end of the 1951–52 season Solothurn won their group in the Swiss 1. Liga (third national level) and in the play-offs won promotion to the Nationalliga B. Thüler remained with his club for a further three seasons. Transfer fees in Switzerland were rising rapidly in this period.
