Giacomo Bernardi
Giacomo Bernardi is a Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at University of California Santa Cruz. He earned his B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. at the University of Paris and did post-doctoral work from 1991 to 1994 at Hopkins Marine Station at Stanford University. His research includes working on phylogeography, speciation and molecular ecology of fishes, particularly in fishes lacking a pelagic larval phase, Gulf of California and Pacific disjunct species, and in surfperches ( Embiotocidae). His research compares phylogeographic and gene expression patterns to test for local adaptation in a high gene flow species. He is also interested in population structure of coastal and island groupers. Nicolas Bernardi (born 16 May 1976) is a French rally driver. Bernardi made his World Rally Championship (WRC) debut in 1998 on the Monte Carlo Rally. In 2001 he contested the Junior World Rally Championship in a Peugeot 206, later returning for a second campaign in 2004 in a Renault Clio and finishing second in the standings to Per-Gunnar Andersson. In 2005 he won the French tarmac championship in a Peugeot 206 WRC run by Bozian Racing. He contested the German and British rounds of the WRC in the same model of car, entered under the banner of 'Equipe de France FFSA', but he retired from both events. Mario de Bernardi (1893–1959) was an Italian World War I fighter pilot, seaplane air racer of the 1920s, and test pilot of early Italian experimental jets. Early life De Bernardi was born on 1 July 1893 in Venosa, Italy. In 1911, at the age of 18, he served in the Italian armed forces during the Italo-Turkish War (1911–1912), where he witnessed the first military use of airplanes in combat. He returned to Italy resolved to become a pilot, and he received his pilots license in 1914. Flying achievements World War I When Italy entered World War I (1914–1918) on the side of the Allies in 1915, de Bernardi was in the 2nd Regiment of the Piedmont Royal Cavalry. José Oscar Bernardi (born 20 June 1954), known as Oscar, is a Brazilian former association footballer who played as a defender. He notably represented the Brazil national football team at international level, and played as a starter in defence at the 1978 and 1982 FIFA World Cups, while he was a reserve in 1986. He was capped almost 60 times for Brazil between April 1978 and May 1986, and scored two goals. At club level, he played for São Paulo and Ponte Preta in Brazil.
