Bernardas Vasiliauskas
Bernardas Vasiliauskas (28 April 1938 – 21 February 2022) was a Lithuanian pianist and organist. Biography Vasiliauskas was born in Kaunas on 28 April 1938. Vasiliauskas finished at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre as a pianist in 1961 and as an organist in 1966. In 1968 he won first prize in the Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis Competition of Pianists and Organists. He played mostly 19th- and 20th-century music for the pipe organ. Vasiliauskas had recorded 15 LPs and 12 CDs. Kaunas
Kaunas (; ; also see other names) is the second-largest city in Lithuania after Vilnius and an important centre of Lithuanian economic, academic, and cultural life. Kaunas was the largest city and the centre of a county in the Duchy of Trakai of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Trakai Palatinate since 1413. The Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius, Lithuania, is a state-supported conservatory that trains students in music, theatre, and multimedia arts. History Composer Juozas Naujalis founded a music school in 1919 in Kaunas. This school was reorganised into the Kaunas Conservatory in 1933. In 1949 the ''Kaunas Conservatory'' and the ''Vilnius Conservatory'', founded in 1945, were merged into the ''Lithuanian State Conservatory''. The State Conservatory was renamed the ''Music Academy of Lithuania'' (LMA) in 1992, and in 2004 it became the ''Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre'' (LMTA). The ''Visuotinė lietuvių enciklopedija'' or VLE (translation ''Universal Lithuanian Encyclopedia'') is a 25-volume universal Lithuanian-language encyclopedia published by the Science and Encyclopaedia Publishing Institute from 2001 to 2014.
