Bernard Scrymgour
Bernard Vincent Scrymgour (31 July 1864 – 16 April 1943) was a cricketer and administrator who played first-class cricket for South Australia from 1891 to 1897. Bernard Scrymgour was educated at Prince Alfred College, Adelaide. After a modest playing career at state level he became a prominent cricket administrator. He was a member of the committee of the South Australian Cricket Association for almost 50 years, and president from 1928 to 1940. The Sturt Cricket Club (formerly the Unley Cricket Club) is a semi-professional cricket club in Adelaide, South Australia. It competes in the South Australian Grade Cricket League, which is administered by the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA). The club entered the SACA competition in season 1897/98. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out").
