Bernadett Ferling
Bernadett Ferling (born 13 July 1977) is a former Hungarian handball player who played for Dunaújvárosi NKS and the Hungarian national team. Between 2009 and 2011, she also served as the club president of Dunaújváros. Currently she works as a fitness coach at Dunaújvárosi NKS. Career Club Born to a sporting family, her mother is a former handball player while her father is a retired footballer. Moved to Dunaújváros as an unknown teenager, but thanks to her outstanding performances she quickly became a beloved player by the fans. She played a big part of the club's success story, in which Dunaújváros transformed into one of the best and most feared clubs in Europe. They regularly reached the latest stage of the continental competitions, winning their first title, namely the EHF Cup in 1998 after a double victory over HC Banská Bystrica in the finals. The Women's EHF Champions League is the competition for the top women's handball clubs in Europe, organised annually by the European Handball Federation (EHF). It is the most prestigious tournament for clubs, with the champions of Europe's top national leagues participating. Tournament structure Each year, the EHF publishes a ranking list of its member federations. The first 27 nations are allowed to participate in the tournament with their national champion. The Nemzeti Bajnokság (, "National Championship"), also known as NB I, is the top level of the Hungarian football league system. The league is officially named OTP Bank Liga after its title sponsor OTP Bank. UEFA currently ranks the league 28th in Europe. Twelve teams compete in the league, playing each other three times, once at home, once away, and the third match is played at the stadium that the last match was not played at. At the end of the season, the top team enters the qualification for the UEFA Champions League, while the runner-up and the third place, together with the winner of the Magyar Kupa enter the UEFA Europa Conference League qualification rounds. Siófok Kézilabda Club is a Hungarian women's team handball team from Siófok, that currently play in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I. They have competed in lower divisions until 2006, when they have won the third-tier championship and gained promotion to the Nemzeti Bajnokság I/B. That time a businessman, János Fodor took over the club, and with the support of the local government, he guaranteed the financial background to fulfil the club's long-term plans. In May 2009, SKC received a surprise request from the Hungarian Handball Federation to replace the financially struggling Tajtavill-Nyíradony and join the top level championship. Handball At The 2004 Summer Olympics
Handball at the 2004 Summer Olympics included a men's and a women's team competitions with the preliminary rounds taking place in the Sports Pavilion at the Faliro Coastal Zone Olympic Complex. From the quarter final stage onwards, the women's event moved to the Helliniko Olympic Indoor Arena, a part of the Helliniko Olympic Complex, with the men joining them there for their semi-finals and final. The men's Handball event first made an appearance, played outside, at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany but did not then re-appear until the Games returned to Germany for the Munich Olympics in 1972 since when it has been ever present.
