Bermudadreieck
''Bermudadreieck'' or ''Bermuda3Eck'' (Bermuda Triangle) is the designation for an area in the center of Bochum, Germany, with a high density of bars and restaurants, bounded by (clockwise from top) the streets Südring, Brüderstraße, Kortumstraße and Viktoriastraße. The number of gastronomic establishments has increased since the beginning of the 1980s, spurred by the short distance to the Schauspielhaus Bochum, Bochum Theater, Union Theater and the main train station. It is served by Engelbert-Brunnen/Bermudadreieck Trams in Bochum/Gelsenkirchen, U-Straßenbahn Station, on lines 308 & 318. Culture and cuisine There are over 60 catering establishments in the Bermuda Triangle. The area has expanded to approximately 2 km² with seating for over 8,000, including 4,200 seats outdoors. Bochum Total is an annual music festival in Bochum, Germany. Bochum Total usually begins on the first Thursday of the summer break; in 2011, however, it took place from July 21 to July 24. It is a so-called '' (English: for free and outside) which means there are no charges for entering the festival area. Engelbert III Of The Mark
Engelbert III of the Mark (1333–1391) was the Count of Mark from 1347 until 1391. Adolph was the eldest son of Count Adolph II of the Marck and Margaret of Cleves. After his father died in 1347, Engelbert III ruled the County of Mark, mainly from Burg Blankenstein in 1393. In his time, he was the leading political leader of Westphalia. He was though, efficient and successful, but failed to conquer Arnsberg after years of struggle. Engelbert was married with: *Richardis of Jülich († 1360), daughter of William V, Duke of Jülich, in 1354, *Elisabeth of Spanheim-Sayn († 1416), daughter of Count Simon III of Vianden, in 1381, and had one daughter: * Margaret († 1410), married with Philip X of Falkenstein and Münzenberg († 1407). The Bochumer Symphoniker is a German orchestra based in Bochum. Its primary residence is the Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr. History The orchestra was founded in 1918 originally as the Städtisches Orchester Bochum , at the same time as the Bochum Theatre, with the primary purpose to accompany theatrical productions. The orchestra gave its first public concert with conductor Rudolf Schulz-Dornburg, its first ''Generalmusikdirektor'' (GMD), on 20 May 1919. Under GMD Klaus Nessträter (1938-1944), the orchestra received attention throughout Germany, especially for its operas. Between September 1944 and July 1945, the orchestra halted concerts. After the war, the orchestra resumed activity. At the opening of the theatre's new building in 1955, Paul Hindemith was guest conductor.
