Bermagui River
Bermagui River is an open and trained semi-mature wave dominated barrier estuary or perennial river located in the South Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. Course and features Formed by the confluence of the Coolagolite Creek and Nutleys Creek, near Bermagui South, the Bermagui River flows generally east, before reaching its mouth into the Tasman Sea of the South Pacific Ocean near Bermagui. The river descends over its course. The catchment area of the river is with a volume of over a surface area of , at an average depth of . The name of the river is derived from the Aboriginal Dyirringanj word, spelled variously as ''permageua'' and ''bermaguee'', meaning a canoe with paddles. Dyirringany Language
Dyirringañ, also spelt Dyirringany and Djiringanj, is an Australian Aboriginal language of the Yuin people of New South Wales. It is not listed in Bowern (2011), but the people are ethnically Yuin. The only attestation of the language are manuscripts and a grammar dating from 1902. It is sometimes classified with Thawa as a dialect of Southern Coastal Yuin. Bermagui Public School, a primary school in Bermagui, has taught local Aboriginal languages including Djiringanj and the Dhurga language, along with the associated cultures, since 2019. In fluid dynamics, a wind wave, water wave, or wind-generated water wave, is a surface wave that occurs on the free surface of bodies of water as a result from the wind blowing over the water surface. A perennial stream is a stream that has continuous flow of surface water throughout the year in at least parts of its catchment during seasons of normal rainfall, Water Supply Paper 494. as opposed to one whose flow is intermittent. In the absence of irregular, prolonged or extreme drought, a perennial stream is a watercourse, or segment, element or emerging body of water which continually delivers groundwater.
