Bergsøya is an island in Gjemnes Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The island is located near the junctions of the Freifjorden, Kvernesfjorden, and Tingvollfjorden. The highest point on the island is the tall mountain ''Varden''. The island is connected to Kristiansund Municipality (to the north) and the mainland part of Gjemnes Municipality by the Krifast network (a network of 2 bridges and 1 undersea tunnel). It is connected to the mainland in the west by the Gjemnessund Bridge, to the island of Frei (and Kristiansund) to the north by the Freifjord Tunnel, and to the island of Aspøya in Tingvoll Municipality to the east by the Bergsøysund Bridge. Nordmøre
Nordmøre (English: North- Møre) is a traditional district in the Norwegian county of Møre og Romsdal. The area comprises the northern third of the county including the municipalities of Kristiansund, Averøy, Tingvoll, Surnadal, Aure, Halsa, Eide, Sunndal, Gjemnes, and Smøla. The only town in Nordmøre is Kristiansund. Gjemnessund Bridge
The Gjemnessund Bridge ( no, Gjemnessundbrua) is a suspension bridge that crosses the Gjemnessundet strait between the mainland and the island of Bergsøya in the municipality of Gjemnes in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The bridge was the longest suspension bridge in Norway until the opening of the Hardanger Bridge in 2013, although it did not have the longest span (), being eclipsed by the Askøy Bridge. Norwegian National Road 70
National Road 70 ( no, Riksvei 70) is a long national highway that runs from the town of Kristiansund in Kristiansund Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county and the village of Oppdal in Oppdal Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The road starts in downtown Kristiansund. It passes an intersection with the terminus of County Road 64, before passing by Kristiansund Airport, Kvernberget. The road crosses via the Nordsund Bridge from the island of Nordlandet to the island of Gomalandet. Tingvoll Municipality
Tingvoll is a municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is part of the Nordmøre region. The administrative centre is the village of Tingvollvågen. Other villages include Meisingset, Kvisvik, and Torjulvågen. The municipality covers a peninsula on the mainland as well as a few surrounding islands. Aspøya
Aspøya is an artificial island in Tingvoll Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located between the Freifjorden and the Tingvollfjorden. The European route E39 highway crosses Aspøya and connects it to the nearby island of Bergsøya to the west by the Bergsøysund Bridge–part of the Krifast bridge and tunnel system which connects the town of Kristansund to the mainland. To the east, the E39 highway connects it to the Straumsnes peninsula in Tingvoll. The highest point on the island is the mountain ''Vettafjellet''. The artificial island was once a peninsula that was connected to the mainland by the narrow, wide Nålsundeidet isthmus. Frei (island)
Frei is an island in Kristiansund Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The island lies south of the town of Kristiansund in the Nordmøre region of the county. The main villages on the island include Rensvik in the north, Kvalvåg in the east, and Nedre Frei in the south. The island was part of the old Frei Municipality from 1838 until 2008 when the island was merged into Kristiansund Municipality. The Kristiansund Mainland Connection ( or abbreviated ''Krifast'') is a road system consisting of the European route E39 highway and Norwegian National Road 70 that connects Kristiansund Municipality to the neighboring islands of Frei, Bergsøya, and Aspøya and then to the mainland of Norway.
