Beograd (band)
Beograd ( sr-Cyrl, Београд, trans. ''Belgrade'') is a Serbian and Yugoslav electronic music band formed in Belgrade in 1980. Beograd was formed by Slobodan Stanić (synthesizer) and Ljubodrag Bubalo (bass guitar, synthesizer), and was soon joined by Ljubodrag's brother Milan Bubalo ( rhythm machine, electric drums) and Dejan Stanisavljević (synthesizer, vocals). Influenced by the acts like Kraftwerk, Ultravox and Human League, Beograd played the pioneering role on the Yugoslav synth-pop scene. Their debut studio album, ''Remek depo'', released in 1983, was highly successful, however, the group disbanded soon after the album release, the band members continuing their careers in other groups of similar stylistic orientation. In 2012 Dejan Stanisavljević and Milan Bubalo reformed Beograd with a group of younger musicians, releasing the album ''Pola/pola'' in 2015. Singing is the act of creating musical sounds with the voice. A person who sings is called a singer, artist or vocalist (in jazz and/or popular music). Soul Music
Soul music is a popular music genre that originated in the African American community throughout the United States in the late 1950s and early 1960s. It has its roots in African-American gospel music and rhythm and blues. Soul music became popular for dancing and listening, where U.S. record labels such as Motown, Atlantic and Stax were influential during the Civil Rights Movement. Soul also became popular around the world, directly influencing rock music and the music of Africa. It also had a resurgence with artists like Erykah Badu under the genre neo-soul. Brass Instrument
A brass instrument is a musical instrument that produces sound by sympathetic vibration of air in a tubular resonator in sympathy with the vibration of the player's lips. Brass instruments are also called labrosones or labrophones, from Latin and Greek elements meaning 'lip' and 'sound'. There are several factors involved in producing different pitches on a brass instrument. Slides, valves, crooks (though they are rarely used today), or keys are used to change vibratory length of tubing, thus changing the available harmonic series, while the player's embouchure, lip tension and air flow serve to select the specific harmonic produced from the available series. Aleksandar "Saša" Habić (Serbian Cyrillic: Саша Хабић; born 17 March 1956) is a Serbian and former Yugoslav musician, record producer and composer. During his career as a producer he worked with artists like Piloti, Divlji Anđeli, U Škripcu, Jakarta, Beograd, Dorian Gray, Laki Pingvini, Bebi Dol, Željko Bebek, Luna, Laza Ristovski, Slomljena Stakla, Bajaga i Instruktori, Zana, Kornelije Kovač, Alisa, Dejan Cukić, Oktobar 1864, Rambo Amadeus, YU grupa, Galija, Nikola Čuturilo, Riblja Čorba, Kerber, Vampiri, Ruž, Regina, Van Gogh, Generacija 5, Familija, Smak, Zdravko Čolić, Dragoljub Đuričić, Cactus Jack, and others. Zana (band)
Zana is a Serbian and Yugoslav rock and pop group formed in Belgrade in 1979. Formed by guitarist Radovan Jovićević, keyboardist Zoran Živanović and vocalist Zana Nimani, Zana was initially a part of the Yugoslav new wave scene. With their second album they turned towards more commercial synthpop sound and achieved large mainstream popularity. Until the mid-1980s the band had moved from their initial new wave and synthpop sound towards pop rock and pop. After the departure of Zana Nimani in 1984, Jovićević and Živanović continued to lead the band, changing two vocalists, Nataša Gajović and Nataša Živković. During the 1990s, Zana worked as a pop trio consisting of Jovićević, Živanović and vocalist Jelena Galonić. Synth-pop
Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. It was prefigured in the 1960s and early 1970s by the use of synthesizers in progressive rock, electronic, art rock, disco, and particularly the Krautrock of bands like Kraftwerk.
