BENT IMAGE LAB (or BENT) is a production company and animation studio specializing in story development, television, commercials, visual effects, music videos, short films, experimental techniques and tech development in augmented reality (AR). Located in Portland, Oregon, the company was founded in 2002 by partners David Daniels (film), David Daniels, Ray Di Carlo, and Chel White. Director Rob Shaw (filmmaker), Rob Shaw joined the company in 2006. The studio is known partly for its popular music videos for Thom Yorke, Aesop Rock, They Might Be Giants, Modest Mouse, At the Drive In and Chrysta Bell/David Lynch, as well as commercials for Honda, Nike Inc., Coca-Cola, Starbucks, AT&T, Unilever, Kellogg’s, The Hershey Company, Hershey’s and the American Indian College Fund. I'm Not There
''I'm Not There'' is a 2007 musical drama film directed by Todd Haynes, and co-written by Haynes and Oren Moverman. It is an unconventional biographical film inspired by the life and music of American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. Six actors depict different facets of Dylan's public personas: Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Marcus Carl Franklin, Richard Gere, Heath Ledger (his final film to be released during his lifetime), and Ben Whishaw. A caption at the start of the film declares it to be "inspired by the music and the many lives of Bob Dylan"; this is the only mention of Dylan in the film apart from song credits, and his only appearance in it is concert footage from 1966 shown during the film's final moments. Todd Haynes
Todd Haynes (; born January 2, 1961) is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. His films span four decades with themes examining the personalities of well-known musicians, dysfunctional and dystopian societies, and blurred gender roles. Haynes first gained public attention with his controversial short film '' Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story'' (1987), which chronicles singer Karen Carpenter's tragic life and death, using Barbie dolls as actors. Paranoid Park (film)
''Paranoid Park'' is a 2007 Coming of age story, coming of age Teen film, teen drama film written and directed by Gus Van Sant. The film is based on the Paranoid Park (novel), novel of the same name by Blake Nelson and takes place in Portland, Oregon, Portland, Oregon. It's the story of a teenage skateboarder (played by Gabe Nevins) set against the backdrop of a police investigation into a mysterious death. Van Sant wrote the draft script in two days after reading and deciding to adapt Nelson's novel. Gus Green Van Sant Jr. (born July 24, 1952) is an American film director, producer, photographer, and musician. He has earned acclaim as both an independent and mainstream filmmaker. His films typically deal with themes of marginalized subcultures, in particular homosexuality. Van Sant is considered one of the most prominent auteurs of the New Queer Cinema movement. ''Portlandia'' is an American sketch comedy television series starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, set in and around Portland, Oregon, and spoofing the city's reputation as a haven for eccentric hipsters.
