Benke Diarouma (born 12 August 1996) is a Malian basketball player, who plays for AS Police and the Mali national basketball team. Standing at , he plays as center. Professional career Diarouma was born in Bamako. Since 2018, Diarouma plays for AS Police in the Malian Ligue 1. In the 2017–18 season, he was named the MVP of the season. Association Sportive Police, commonly known as AS Police, is a basketball club based in Bamako, Mali. The team plays in the Ligue 1. The roster mainly consists of civilians from N'Tomikorobougou, a neighborhood in Bamako, and police officers. The team has known recent success, winning the national championship in 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021. The Police have also won five Malian Cups and were one of the twelve teams that played in the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) in 2021. The 2019 FIBA AfroCan was the inaugural edition of the AfroCan, a men's basketball continental competition of Africa. Only players who play for Africa-based basketball clubs are eligible to participate. The tournament was hosted by Mali, from 19 to 28 July 2019. FIBA AfroBasket 2021
FIBA AfroBasket 2021 was the 30th edition of the FIBA AfroBasket, a men's basketball continental championship of Africa. The tournament was hosted by Rwanda for the first time. It was originally scheduled to take place between 17 and 29 August 2021, but it was moved back a week due to the COVID-19 pandemic, to 24 August to 5 September 2021. The tournament featured 16 teams, with South Sudan debuting at the AfroBasket stage.
