Benjamin Jacobs (dentist)
Benjamin Jacobs, born Bronek Jakubowicz or Berek Jakubowicz, was a dentist who in 1941, was deported from his Polish village and remained a Nazi prisoner until the final days of the Second World War. He survived Auschwitz and the death march to the Baltic, with the help of his dental tools. In 1945, he then survived the Royal Air Force attack on the ocean liners turned into prison camps in the Bay of Lubeck. After the war, he settled in Boston, USA, worked as a dentist and toured to give interviews about his wartime experiences. In 1995, he published his memoirs, ''The Dentist of Auschwitz: A Memoir'', recounting his experiences and revulsion at having to strip gold from prisoners at Auschwitz in exchange for extra provisions for his family. In 2004, with co-author Eugene Pool, he recounted the Bay of Lubeck incident in a book entitled ''The 100-year secret : Britain's hidden WWII massacre''. SS Cap Arcona
SS ''Cap Arcona'', named after Cape Arkona on the island of Rügen, was a large German ocean liner, later a ship of the German Navy, and finally a prison ship. A flagship of the Hamburg Südamerikanische Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschaft ("Hamburg-South America Line"), she made her maiden voyage on 29 October 1927, carrying passengers and cargo between Germany and the east coast of South America, and in her time was the largest and quickest ship on the route. In 1940 the Kriegsmarine requisitioned ''Cap Arcona'' as an accommodation ship. In 1942 she served as the set for the German propaganda feature film ''Titanic''. Martin Hellinger
Martin Karl Hellinger (17 July 1904 – 13 August 1988) was a German List of Nazi doctors, Nazi dentist who in 1943 was assigned to work at the concentration camp for women at Ravensbrück, with the duty of Nazi dental gold, removing dental gold from those killed at the camp. At the first Hamburg Ravensbrück trials, Ravensbrück trial, beginning in 1946, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He was released in 1954 and given funds by the West German government to re-establish a dental practice. Details of his later life are unknown. Early life Martin Hellinger was born in Pirna on 17 July 1904. Career Hellinger joined the Schutzstaffel (SS) in 1933. He served at Sachsenhausen concentration camp, Sachsenhausen in 1941 and Flossenbürg concentration camp between 1941 and 1942. From spring of 1943 to 1944, he was at Ravensbrück when he was promoted to Hauptsturmführer.
