Benjamin Hector
Benjamin Hector (born 5 August 1979 in Durban) is a former South African first-class cricketer for the Cape Cobras. Making his debut in 2001–02 for Free State, Hector was a right-handed batsman with a highest score of 200 not out. Both his father and uncle played first-class cricket in South Africa. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Cape Cobras Cricket Team
Western Province is the team representing Western Cape province in domestic first-class cricket in South Africa. The team began playing in January 1890 and its main venue has always been Newlands in Cape Town. Under the reorganisation of professional South African cricket in the 1990s and more recently, Western Province joined with Boland to form the side that now plays in the SuperSport Series under the name Cape Cobras and divides its time between Newlands and the Boland Park ground in Paarl. Western Province still competes under its provincial name in the UCB Provincial series. Kate Woods (field Hockey)
Kate Woods ( Hector, born 11 October 1981) is a South African field hockey player. Woods was born Kate Hector on 11 October 1981 in Johannesburg, Gauteng. She attended Durban Girls' College. She was a member of the national squad that finished 9th at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. The midfielder's hometown is Cape Town, and she is nicknamed ''KT''. She plays for a provincial team based in Western Province. At the 2012 Summer Olympics she competed with the South Africa women's national field hockey team in the women's tournament.
