Bengtsfors Municipality
Bengtsfors Municipality (''Bengtsfors kommun'') is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Bengtsfors. The present municipality was formed in 1971 when the former market town (''köping'') of Bengtsfors (instituted in 1926) was amalgamated with the municipalities of Bäckefors, Lelång and Steneby. Geography The municipality has much water areas, consisting of lakes and streams. It makes it a good place for canoeing, fishing and bathing. Every year a canoeing marathon called ''Dalslands Kanot Marathon+'', or DKM+, is held. It is an enduring 55 km long (a marathon "plus"), stretching through the many municipal streams, and one of Sweden's largest canoeing competitions. Bengtsfors is also crossed by the Dalsland Canal. Bengtsfors Church
Bengtsfors Church ( sv, Bengtsfors kyrka) belongs to the Ärtemark parish in the Diocese of Karlstad, Sweden. It is situated on a point in the Lelång Lake in the municipality of Bengtsfors. History and architecture The wooden church was built in 1926, designed by engineer Simon Svensson and was consecrated the same year by bishop Johan Alfred Eklund. A larger renovation and conversion was made in 1957 under the supervision of architect Verner Johansson. That was when the church porch was added and the sacristy extended. The style of the church is a typical 1920s Classicism. A separate bell tower was built in 1933. Furnishings The inventories in the church are: *The pulpit is contemporary with the church. Dalsland
Dalsland () is a Swedish traditional province, or ''landskap'', situated in Götaland in southern Sweden. Lying to the west of Lake Vänern, it is bordered by Värmland to the north, Västergötland to the southeast, Bohuslän to the west, and Norway to the northwest. The province has a low population density of around 14 inhabitants/km2 and just one town of significant size: Åmål. The total population numbers 50,604. An urban area or () in Sweden has a minimum of 200 inhabitants and may be a city, town or larger village. It is a purely statistical concept, not defined by any municipal or county boundaries. The Köppen climate classification is one of the most widely used climate classification systems.
