Bendinat London Seniors Masters
The Bendinat London Seniors Masters was a men's professional golf tournament for players aged 50 and above as part of the European Seniors Tour. It was played in 1995 and then from 2005 to 2007. The event was played at the London Golf Club, Ash, Sevenoaks, Kent. It was played over the Heritage Course, which was designed by Jack Nicklaus. Sam Torrance of Scotland won the 2005 event on his way to topping the European Seniors Tour Order of Merit. In 2007 the prize fund was £150,000. Ash, Sevenoaks
Ash is a small village and former civil parish located in the Sevenoaks district in Kent. It shares the parish of Ash-cum-Ridley with the nearby village of Ridley. The London Golf Club is located in the village, which hosted the European Open on the PGA European Tour in 2008 and 2009. In 1951 the parish had a population of 1017. Bobby Verwey
Frank Robert Verwey (born 21 January 1941) is a South African professional golfer. Verwey was born in Johannesburg and is the son of former South African PGA champion Jock Verwey. He is also the brother-in-law of South African golf legend Gary Player, who was married to his sister, Vivienne, deceased 2021. Verwey won the 1962 German Open and the 1965 Almaden Open Invitational on the PGA Tour. He was a member of the European Tour from 1978 to 1980. He won several professional tournaments in his home country and represented South Africa in the World Cup in 1978 and 1980. Verwey was 50 years, 5 months and 23 days old when he won the Senior British Open Championship becoming the youngest player to ever win that event. John Morgan (golfer)
John Morgan (3 September 1943 – 23 June 2006) was an English professional golfer who competed on the European Tour in the 1970s and 80s. Morgan was born in Oxford. For much of his career, he was also the club professional at Royal Liverpool, one of only a few touring professionals still to maintain a club role at that time. He seriously competed at the 1974 Open Championship. He was tied for the lead with the eventual champion Gary Player after the first round and remained in the top ten after rounds 2 and 3. He ultimately finished T-13. He won one tournament on the European Tour, the 1986 Jersey Open, when he overcame Peter Fowler in a play-off. During the 1970s and 1980s he also competed in Africa on the Safari Circuit, where he won four times, including the Nigerian Open and the Ivory Coast Open. Hugh Inggs
Hugh William Inggs (born 15 May 1938) is a South African professional golfer. Early life Inggs was born in Boksburg, South Africa. He started to play golf at the age of 15. Professional career Inggs turned pro at the age of 20. In 1965, he recorded a 3rd-place finish at the South African Open behind Gary Player. In February 1969, he would finish 2nd place to compatriot Graham Henning at the General Motors Open. Although these were good placings they would also prefigure a tough-luck career as Inggs would ultimately record well over a dozen 2nd and 3rd place finishes but would rarely win. He did, however, finally win a month later in March 1969 at the Rhodesian Masters. Inggs avenged the previous month's defeat to Graham Henning, defeating his fellow South African by a shot. Tony Grubb
Antony Gawen Grubb (22 July 1936 – 6 June 2017) was an English professional golfer. He is remembered for winning the 1964 Schweppes PGA Close Championship. Golf career In 1958 Grubb won the Gor-Ray Cup, the Assistants' Championship, at Hartsbourne Golf Club. He scored 285 and finished two strokes ahead of Brian Huggett. Grubb won the Schweppes PGA Close Championship at Western Gailes Golf Club in 1964 taking the first prize of £1,000. He was the only player under par and won by two strokes from Lionel Platts. The event was played in April and was the first important event of the season. Grubb benefited from having played in the United States during the early part of the year and also because, in 1964, the PGA experimented with using the bigger ball, as used in America.
