Benalto is also recognized by Statistics Canada as a designated place. Kountry Meadows, Alberta, Kountry Meadows, a manufactured home community and designated place recognized by Statistics Canada, is immediately adjacent to the Hamlet of Benalto. Although it forms part of the community, the hamlet's boundaries do not include the manufactured home park at this time. The 2016 Canadian census was an enumeration of Canadian residents, which counted a population of 35,151,728, a change from its 2011 population of 33,476,688. A designated place (DPL) is a type of community or settlement identified by Statistics Canada that does not meet the criteria used to define municipalities or population centres. DPLs are delineated every 5 years for the Canadian census as the statistical counterparts of incorporated places such as cities, towns, and villages. Though lacking separate municipal government, DPLs otherwise physically resemble incorporated places. They are created by provincial or territorial governments for the purpose of providing data for settled concentrated populations that are identifiable by name but are not legally incorporated under the laws of the province/territory in which they are located. Sylvan Lake is a town in central Alberta, Canada. It is located approximately west of the City of Red Deer along Highway 11 or Highway 11A.
