Ben Wilson (speedway Rider)
Ben Ryan Wilson (born 15 March 1986 in Sheffield, England) is a former professional motorcycle speedway rider. Career Wilson started his career with the Sheffield Prowlers on his 15th birthday in the Conference League. He was selected as the Sheffield Tigers reserve for the 2003 season, and after a slow start he continued into 2004, where he showed more promise. In 2005, Wilson moved up to second string in which he partnered Sean Wilson, and continued to improve his average throughout the year. In 2006, his form from 2005 was noticed and he was signed to double up with Wolverhampton Wolves in the Elite League, as well as riding for Sheffield. He also won the British Under-21 Championship at the Norfolk Arena, by beating Danny King and Lewis Bridger. This result earned Wilson a reserve position at the British Grand Prix that year. 2019 National Development League Speedway Season
The National League speedway 2019 now known as the National Development League for the 2019 season was the third tier/division of British speedway. There were several team changes for the 2019 league season with reigning league champions and KO cup winners Eastbourne Eagles, along with the Birmingham Brummies, moving into the SGB Championship. Coventry Bees, who rode their home meetings at Leicester the previous season, did not enter the league, but Leicester Lions entered a team (Leicester Lion Cubs). Cradley Heathens fully entered the league after the previous season National Trophy only commitment, while the Buxton Hitmen decided not compete and only run open meetings (friendlies). Mildenhall Stadium
Mildenhall Stadium is a speedway, stock car racing and Greyhound Board of Great Britain regulated greyhound racing venue located in Mildenhall, Suffolk between Cambridge and Norwich. The stadium is known as Suffolk Downs when greyhound racing takes place. The stadium has a Race View Restaurant and a fish and chip shop as well as the Fen Men bar licensed bar. There is a second licensed bar underneath the home straight grandstand. Speedway is held on Sundays (April to October). Origins and opening Mildenhall is in an area with strong coursing roots and in later decades greyhound racing became a popular sport too. It follows the same rules and regulations as the SGB Premiership and SGB Championship, including the use of rider averages. Glasgow Tigers are a motorcycle speedway team from Glasgow, Scotland. Formed in 1928, the club adopted the Tigers nickname in 1946 and compete in the British SGB Championship. The team race at Ashfield Stadium, the home of Ashfield F.C., and celebrated their 75th anniversary in 2021. Richard David Ashworth (born 17 August 1982 in Salford, England) is a former professional speedway rider who has represented Great Britain. Biography Son of David Ashworth and Mandy Winnard, Ricky was raised in Salford (originally from Irlam) and went to Summerville County primary school and then on to Hope High School. He started his racing career on a Yamaha PW 50cc and Kawasaki K100 as a motocross rider up to the age of 10, changing his bike career to grass track racing after experiencing financial difficulties due to the spiralling cost of privately owning and maintaining motocross bikes. While gaining a high reputation for himself during his grass track days, Ricky was introduced to speedway. After a couple of practice sessions on a speedway bike he was talent-spotted by Belle Vue Colts. He quickly signed for Premier League side Sheffield Tigers after just 12 months in the sport. Premier League Pairs Championship
The SGB Championship Pairs Championship formerly the Premier League Pairs Championship (from 1997 to 2016) is a motorcycle speedway contest for the second tier teams in the SGB Championship in the United Kingdom. The teams consist of the top two riders from each club competing. The meetings comprise ten teams of two riders drawn into two qualifying groups. Rules Gate positions In the ''Qualification Heats'', riders are allocated starting gates. For the ''Semi-Finals'', the group winners have first choice of gate positions (A&C or B&D). Gate A is on the inside of the track, whilst Gate D is on the outside. For the ''Final'', the gate positions (A&C and B&D) are decided by the toss of a coin. The British Grand Prix is a Grand Prix motor race organised in the United Kingdom by the Royal Automobile Club.
