Ben Whiteman
Bernard "Ben" Denzil Whiteman (born 20 August 1954) is a Curaçaoan politician who served as the 5th Prime Minister of Curaçao from September 2015 to December 2016. He succeeded Ivar Asjes after Asjes resigned after he lost the confidence of his party. Whiteman was sworn in as Prime Minister on 1 September 2015. He also was the Minister of Public Health, Environment and Nature since 31 December 2012 in the Asjes-Cabinet and the Hodge-Cabinet before taking the post, retaining the position after becoming prime minister. Prime Minister Whiteman took on the post of Prime Minister with the intent of staying in office for three months, to allow his party to search for a successor. On 29 October 2015, it was announced Whiteman would stay on until the 2016 elections. The Whiteman Cabinet resigned on 9 November 2015 after losing the parliamentary majority when Marilyn Moses withdrew her support. Excellency is an honorific style given to certain high-level officers of a sovereign state, officials of an international organization, or members of an aristocracy. Marvelyne Wiels
Marvelyne Fatima Wiels (born 15 May 1963) was the Minister Plenipotentiary of Curaçao between 2013 and 2016. In that capacity she was stationed in The Hague and was a member of the Council of Ministers of the Kingdom. Personal life Wiels was born on 15 May 1963 and is a sister of the murdered politician Helmin Wiels. She is a single mother of two children. Minister Plenipotentiary Wiels has received criticism for errors in her CV, amongst others relating to a MSc title, as well as the nature of her work at ABN AMRO. Also her management of the Curaçaohuis, the representation of Curaçao in the Netherlands, which falls under her responsibility, was criticized. Criticism in the latter case was related to nepotism and harassment of her deputy. José Manuel Norberto Jardim (born 24 April 1973) is a Curaçaoan politician, he was Minister of Finance from 31 December 2012 to 23 December 2016. Jardim has served under four out of six Prime Ministers of Curaçao. Before becoming Minister Jardim was secretary general of the Ministry of Finance between October 2010 and April 2012. Early life and career Jardim was born on 24 April 1973 on Curaçao. He completed his vwo-education at the Radulphus College in 1991. He studied general economics and obtained a degree in 1996 and a further post-doc degree in 2007. Etienne van der Horst (born 28 August 1958) is a Curaçaoan politician. A member of the Partido pa Adelanto I Inovashon Soshal, he was Minister of Government Policy, Planning and Service from 31 December 2012 to 23 December 2016. Career Van der Horst was born on 28 August 1958. He studied urban design at Delft University of Technology between 1977 and 1984. Nelson Navarro (born 19 January 1949) is a Curaçaoan jurist and politician. He was Minister of Justice of Curaçao from December 2012 to December 2016. Biography Navarro was born in 1949 and went to high school in Curaçao. In 1976 he earned a degree in Dutch law at the Leiden University in the Netherlands. He returned to Curaçao the same year to work as a paralegal at the Central Bureau of Judicial and General Affairs. Three years later he moved once again to the Netherlands to work as a civil servant at the tax service and to study about customs and tariffs. Irene Dick (born 28 November 1949) is a Curaçaoan politician. A member of the Sovereign People, she was Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport from 23 December 2013 until 23 December 2016. Dick replaced Ivar Asjes, who held the office while concurrently Prime Minister since the resignation of Rubia Bitorina. Career Dick was born on 28 November 1949 in Willemstad.
