Ben Ward (darts Player)
Ben Ward (born 10 December 1988 from Dorchester) is a former English professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation tournaments. Darts career Ward competed on the PDC Challenge Tour in 2013 and won two events to finish second in the Order of Merit behind Ross Smith. Ward was awarded a place in the preliminary round of the 2014 PDC World Championship, which was reserved for the Challenge Tour winner, as Smith had already qualified for the first round via the Pro Tour Order of Merit. Ward played against Austria's Zoran Lerchbacher in the preliminary round and lost 4–1. In March, Ward qualified for his first UK Open but was beaten 5–0 by Steve Maish in the second round. He reached the quarter-final stages of a PDC ProTour event for the first time at the seventh Players Championship of the year, where he lost 6–1 against Keegan Brown, who averaged 112.32 during the match. 2014 PDC Pro Tour
The 2014 PDC Pro Tour was a series of non-televised darts tournaments organised by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Professional Dart Players Association Players Championships, UK Open Qualifiers, and European Tour events are the events that make up the Pro Tour. This year there were 34 PDC Pro Tour events held – 20 Players Championships, 6 UK Open Qualifiers, and 8 European Tour events. Prize money Prize money for each UK Open Qualifier was increased from £35,000 to £50,000 to match the 2013 Players Championships, which themselves remained unchanged for this year. 2016 UK Open
The 2016 Coral UK Open was a darts tournament staged by the Professional Darts Corporation. It was the fourteenth year of the tournament where, following numerous regional qualifying heats throughout Britain, players competing in a single elimination tournament to be crowned champion. The tournament was held for the third time at the Butlin's Resort in Minehead, England, between 4–6 March 2016, and has the nickname, "the FA Cup of darts" as a random draw will be staged after each round until the final. In a repeat of last year's final, Michael van Gerwen beat Peter Wright to retain his title. During the tournament, he also hit a nine-dart finish against the then-unknown Rob Cross in the fourth round. Brendan Dolan
Brendan Gabriel Dolan (born 2 August 1973) is a Northern Irish professional darts player from County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is best known for becoming the first player to hit a nine-dart finish in a "double-to-start" event (Where a player must hit a double, with a maximum value of 40, to begin play, as opposed to the traditional free choice, 60 point maximum first dart), which he did at the 2011 World Grand Prix. Barrie Bates
Barrie Bates (born 17 October 1969) is a former Welsh darts player who played on the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) circuit. His original nickname was Batesy, but since 2007, he was known as Champagne. Career Bates made his PDC televised debut at the 2003 UK Open reaching the third round. In 2005 he narrowly lost a last-32 match to Lionel Sams at the UK Open and made a superb run to the final in 2006 before losing to Raymond van Barneveld. He made a great impression on the circuit in 2006, winning the John Smiths Singles in February and May's Le Skratch Sarantos Retsinas Memorial event in Montreal. 2014 PDC European Tour Event 4
The 2014 Austrian Darts Open was the fourth of eight PDC European Tour events on the 2014 PDC Pro Tour. The tournament took place at the Salzburgarena in Salzburg, Austria, between 20–22 June 2014. It featured a field of 48 players and £100,000 in prize money, with £20,000 going to the winner. Vincent van der Voort won his first European Tour title by defeating Jamie Caven 6–5 in the final.
