Ben Pinkelman
Benjamin Joseph Pinkelman (born June 13, 1994) is an American professional rugby union player who plays as a forward for the United States national sevens team. Early life Pinkelman began playing rugby while he attended Cherry Creek High School in Denver, Colorado. Pinkelman was named Youth Rugby Player of the Year by USA Rugby in 2014. He represented the United States at the 2014 IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy in Hong Kong. He attended Colorado State University, where he studied Criminal justice, and played for the Colorado State Rams and thDenver Barbarians RFC He was named as Division 1-A Rugby Player of the Week twice while attending CSU. Club career Pinkelman announced his return to the playing field for the 2023 Premier Rugby Sevens campaign, joining the newly formed Pittsburgh Steeltoes franchise in their first season. The 2019 World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup was the 14th Pacific Nations Cup, an annual international rugby union competition contested by the men's national teams of the Tier 2 rugby nations located around the Pacific: Canada, Fiji, Japan, Samoa, Tonga and the United States. Japan won their second outright Pacific Nations Cup (and their third overall, having shared the 2014 title with Samoa), winning all three of their matches with try-scoring bonus points to finish top of the standings with 15 points. Gary Gold (born 6 July 1967) is a South African rugby union coach who has coached at various levels of the game in England, Japan and South Africa. He was until December 2022 the head coach of the United States. Coaching career London Irish Gold joined London Irish in July 2001 as forwards coach under newly appointed head coach Brendan Venter. The South African duo formed a strong partnership in their first year at London Irish, guiding their team to fourth on the table at the end of the regular 2001–02 Premiership Season. The 2019 Rugby World Cup was the ninth edition of the Rugby World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for men's rugby union teams. It was hosted in Japan from 20 September to 2 November in 12 venues all across the country. The 2018 USA Sevens (also sometimes referred to as the 2018 Las Vegas Sevens) was the fifteenth edition of the USA Sevens tournament, and the sixth tournament of the 2017–18 World Rugby Sevens Series. The tournament was played between 2 and 4 March 2018 at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The tournament was won by the United States who beat Argentina 28–0 in the final. The 2017 Hong Kong Sevens was the 42nd edition of the Hong Kong Sevens tournament, and the seventh tournament of the 2016–17 World Rugby Sevens Series. The tournament was played on 7–9 April 2017 at Hong Kong Stadium in Hong Kong. Rugby sevens at the 2016 Summer Olympics was held over six days in August 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.
