Belphegor, Or Phantom Of The Louvre (1965 Miniseries)
''Belphegor, or the Phantom of the Louvre'' is a 1965 French television miniseries directed by Claude Barma, based on the 1927 novel by Arthur Bernède. It consists of four 70 minutes episodes. Plot A mysterious phantom appears in the Musée du Louvre in Paris at night. The guards are unable to catch it. A student, André Bellegarde obstinately tries to find out more about the strange creature by himself. He seems to be more effective in doing so than the local police led by commissaire Menardier. Bellegarde does cooperate with the police, too, but he mostly goes his own way investigating Belphégor's activity. A secret society is in the background. Bellegarde, in the meantime, is involved in two romances and cannot decide which woman to dedicate himself as the case gets more and more serious and criminal and threads meet. Claude Barma
Claude Barma (3 November 1918, in Nice – 30 August 1992, in Paris), was a French director and screenwriter, and an early creator of French television programmes. Biography After studying electrical engineering, he entered television in 1946 with the drama ''Chambre 34'', his directorial debut. On 24 February 1950, he produced the first live French television show by transmitting part of Marivaux's ''Le Jeu de l'amour et du hasard'' and the ''Comédie-Française''. His first series followed in 1950, ''Agence Nostradamus'', which was also the first series on French television. In 1955, he staged a trial court scripted by Peter Desgraupes and Dumayet Peter (producers of the series). ''En votre âme et conscience'' was an original series, designed for small-screen drama, taking place entirely in a court where the camera filmed uninterrupted. ''The Independent'' is a British online newspaper. It was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper. Nicknamed the ''Indy'', it began as a broadsheet and changed to tabloid format in 2003. The last printed edition was published on Saturday 26 March 2016, leaving only the online edition. ''Riget'' (English title: ''The Kingdom'') is a Danish absurdist supernatural horror miniseries trilogy created by Lars von Trier, co-written by von Trier with Niels Vørsel and co-directed by von Trier with Morten Arnfred. Set in the neurosurgical ward of Copenhagen's Rigshospitalet (, nicknamed "Riget", ), each episode of the show takes place over a single day, and follows the hospital's eccentric staff and patients as they encounter bizarre and sometimes supernatural phenomena.
