Bellamya Dagangensis
''Bellamya'' was a supertanker, built in 1976 by Chantiers de l'Atlantique at Saint-Nazaire for the French branch of Shell Oil. She was the second Batillus class supertanker. ''Bellamya'', together with her sister ships ''Batillus, Pierre Guillaumat'' and '' Prairial'', was one of the biggest ships in the world, surpassed in size only by '' Seawise Giant'' (later ''Jahre Viking, Happy Giant'' and ''Knock Nevis'') built in 1976, and extended in 1981, although the four ships of the Batillus class had a larger gross tonnage. If size is indicated by gross tonnage—a measure of volume—''Bellamya'' was the largest ship ever built. Viviparidae, sometimes known as the river snails or mystery snails, are a family of large operculate freshwater snails, aquatic gastropod mollusks. This family is classified in the informal group Architaenioglossa according to the taxonomy of the Gastropoda by Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005. Distribution This family occurs nearly worldwide in temperate and tropical regions, with the exception that they are absent from South America. There are two genera of Viviparidae in Africa: ''Bellamya'' and ''Neothauma''. The oldest known vivparid is ''Viviparus langtonensis'' from the Middle Jurassic of England. Prairial (supertanker)
The ''Prairial'' was a supertanker, built in 1979 by Chantiers de l'Atlantique at Saint-Nazaire for Compagnie Nationale de Navigation. ''Prairial'', which was the fourth and final vessel of Batillus class supertankers (the other three were ''Batillus, Bellamya'' and ''Pierre Guillaumat''). She was the only ship of that class to have a career longer than ten years, sailing until 2003, although under different names: ''Sea Brilliance'' (1985), ''Hellas Fos'' (1986) and ''Sea Giant'' (1997). The draft or draught of a ship's hull is the vertical distance between the waterline and the bottom of the hull (keel). The draught of the vessel is the maximum depth of any part of the vessel, including appendages such as rudders, propellers and drop keels if deployed.
