The men's 4 × 400 metres relay event at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place on 22 and 23 August at the Beijing National Stadium. There were 16 NOCs competing at this event. Arnaud Ghislain (born 2 December 1988) is a Belgian sprinter, who specialized in the 400 metres. He is an indoor national senior champion for his category, and also a member of the Belgian national track relay team. Ghislain was originally selected as a reserve for the men's 4 × 400 m relay at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. He is a two-time national champion for his category, and a member of Atletiek Zuid-West Club in Zwevegem, being coached and trained by Dirk de Maesschulck. He also achieved a personal best time of 8:15.02, at a world meeting in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium. The event was won by LaShawn Merritt of the United States, in what would ultimately be the final of seven consecutive American victories stretching from 1984 to 2008; it was the 19th overall title in the event by the United States.
