Henry Christian Hopman CBE (12 August 1906 – 27 December 1985) was an Australian tennis player and coach. Early life Harry Hopman was born on 12 August 1906 in Glebe, Sydney as the third child of John Henry Hopman, a schoolteacher, and Jennie Siberteen, née Glad. His family then moved to Parramatta. Hopman started playing tennis at the age of 13 and, playing barefoot, won an open singles tournament on a court in the playground of Rosehill Public School where his father was headmaster. He was later a student at Parramatta High School where he played tennis and cricket. Davis Cup Hopman was the successful captain-coach of 22 Australian Davis Cup teams from 1939 to 1967. The Hopman Cup XXXII was the 32nd edition of the Hopman Cup, a tennis tournament between nations in men's and women's tennis. It took place from 19–23 July 2023 on clay courts at the Nice Lawn Tennis Club in Nice, France. After a three-year absence, on 6 December 2022, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced that the Hopman Cup would return for the 2023 tennis season in Nice in July, the first occasion in which the event was moved out of Australia and away from the opening week of the season. Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. The Hopman Cup XXIII (also known as the Hyundai Hopman Cup for sponsorship reasons) corresponds to the 23rd edition of the Hopman Cup tournament between nations in men's and women's tennis. The tournament commenced on 1 January 2011 at the Burswood Dome in Perth, Western Australia. The tournament was contested on hard courts. The tournament was attended by over seventy eight thousand people over the course of the week. This is the biggest attendance at the Hopman Cup where the tournament was held over eleven sessions. Up until the eighteenth edition there was a play-off giving twelve sessions of play. Burswood Dome
The Dome at Crown Perth (originally the Burswood Superdome and formerly the Burswood Dome) was a multipurpose indoor arena used for sports and entertainment. The dome was in size, with seating for 13,600 people. The whole arena was pressurised so that the fibreglass roof was suspended above the ground. It was a venue for indoor sports, notably the Hopman Cup tennis tournament, which was moved to the Perth Arena for the 2013 and future events, and for pop music concerts.
