Royal Belgian Cycling League
The Royal Belgian Cycling League or KBWB/RLVB (in Dutch: ''Koninklijke Belgische Wielrijdersbond'', in French: ''Royale Ligue vélocipédique belge'') is the national governing body of cycle racing in Belgium. Individual Pursuit
The individual pursuit is a track cycling event where two cyclists begin the race from a stationary position on opposite sides of the track. It is held at over for men and for women. The riders start at the same time and set off to complete the race distance in the fastest time. They ride on the pursuit line at the bottom of the track to find the fastest line, with each rider trying to catch the other who started on the other side. If the catch is achieved, the successful pursuer is the winner. However, they can continue the rest of the race distance to set the fastest time in a qualifying race or a record in a final. Qualification and race format The first round of the competition at major events is the qualifying round. This still involves two riders on the track at the same time but they are not directly competing against each other but attempting to set the fastest time to progress in the competition. The hour record is the record for the longest distance cycled in one hour on a bicycle from a stationary start. Cyclists attempt this record alone on the track without other competitors present. It is considered one of the most prestigious records in cycling. Since it was first set, cyclists ranging from unknown amateurs to well-known professionals have held the record, adding to its prestige, romance and allure. Jakarta International Velodrome
Jakarta International Velodrome is a sporting facility located at Rawamangun, East Jakarta, Indonesia. The arena was used as a venue for 2018 Asian Games and 2018 Asian Para Games. The Velodrome covers an area of about 9.5 hectares. The sports arena has a 250 m cycling track, designed by Schuermann Architects, tennis court and swimming pools. The velodrome has a seating capacity of 3,500 for track cycling, and up to 8,500 for shows and concerts. Although made for bicycle races, the complex will also be used for various sports activities such as volleyball, badminton, and futsal. The velodrome is certified as “Class 1” by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The original venue was built in 1973 and demolished to make way for the modern velodrome. Team Pursuit
The team pursuit is a track cycling event similar to the individual pursuit, except that two teams, each of up to four riders, compete, starting on opposite sides of the velodrome. Race format Both men's and women's events are competed over a distance of 4 km, by a team of 4 riders. Prior to the start of the 2012–13 season the women's event was competed over a distance of 3 km, by a team of 3 riders. As with the individual pursuit, the objective is to cover the distance in the fastest time or to catch and overtake the other team in a final. Riders in a team follow each other closely in line, drafting to minimize total drag, and periodically the lead rider (who works the hardest) peels off the front, swings up the track banking and rejoins the team at the rear.
