Belgian Bowl XXIV
The Belgian Bowl XXIV was held on June 4, 2011 in Ostend. The West Flanders Tribes were the reigning champion and were defending their title against the Brussels Black Angels. This was the Third time the Tribes and the Black Angels faced each other in the Belgian Bowl (2007, 2008). The Tribes won the game on a windy but sunny gameday with 1350 spectators. 2011 Playoffs The 2 teams that played in the Belgian Bowl were the winners of the Semi Finals. West Flanders Tribes and Brussels Tigers received byes straight into the Semi Finals since they were the winners of seasonal play in the FFL and LFFAB respectively. The Quarterfinals were played on 15 May and the Semi Finals on 22 May on the homefields of the highest seeded teams. The Brussels Black Angels are an American football team based in Brussels.The Black Angels were members of the Flemish American Football League (FAFL) conference in the Belgian Football League (BFL). They are currently playing in the Belgium Netherlands League (BNL). West Flanders Tribes
The West Flanders Tribes was a Belgian American football team based in the province of West-Flanders, with two home cities, Ostend and Izegem. The Tribes were members of the Flemish American Football League (FFL) conference in the Belgian Football League (BFL). Their team colours are maroon, white and black. In 2012, the team split up into the Ostend Pirates and the Izegem Tribes. History 1990 In 1990 the Izegem Redskins were formed by Rudy Dewaegemaeker after his old team, the Moeskroen Redskins, was disbanded. After a couple of months of practice the Redskins played their first game against the Brussel Raiders. The Raiders, led by Mike La Salle and QB Jon VandeMergel, beat the Redskins 78-0.
