Belarusian Railway (BCh) ( be, Беларуская чыгунка () / ''Biełaruskaja čyhunka'', russian: Белорусская железная дорога) is the national state-owned railway company of Belarus. It operates all of the rail transport network in Belarus. As of 2005, the railway employs 112,173 people. Overview The company, formed in 1992 after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, is one of the inheritors of the Soviet Railways. It administrates 5,512 km of railway with (). The railway's most important station is Minsk Terminal, the central station of the capital. BCh reports to the ministry of transport and as of 2010 was composed of 84 organizations; 46 enterprises, 38 institutions, and 7 factories/plants. Minsk-Pasažyrski ( be, Мінск-Пасажырскі, russian: link=no, Минск-Пассажирский) is the main passenger railway station in Minsk, Belarus. It is located in the centre of Minsk. It is sometimes called ''Minsk Ploshchad Lenina'' due to the metro station serving the terminal, or simply ''Minsk''. History The station was built in 1873 as ''Vilenski vakzal'', ''Vilnius station'' ( be, Віленскі вакзал russian: link=no, Виленский вокзал). The initial wooden building was demolished in 1890 and rebuilt in stone. During World War II, Minsk railway station was completely destroyed. It was rebuilt in 1945–1946 and served until 1991. TE10 (russian: ТЭ10) is a Soviet diesel-electric locomotive. The name of this locomotive (ТЭ10) is from ''тепловоз с электрической передачей, тип 10'', which translates to "diesel-electric locomotive type 10." History In 1957–1961, the Kharkiv plant "Electrotyazhmash" and Malyshev Factory designed a new single-unit locomotive with 50% more power than a single TE3 unit and only a slightly greater mass. The result was the TEP10 and TEP10L designs. After 1961, work on the freight version of the design was assigned to the Lugansk works. These designs received the suffix "L" to the name to signify the transfer. The first locomotive of the new design, designated TE10-001 (Kharkiv), was released in November 1958. ER9 Electric Trainset
For servicing suburban commuter lines, electrified on 25 kV, AC, the Railcar Manufacturing Plant of Riga produced ER9, then ER9P and other modifications of electric trainsets in the 1962-2002 period. The mass production of these trains had begun in 1964. Railcar types Three types of cars were manufactured for these trains, which were motor, trailer, and cab-trailer. The minimal quantity of cars is four (2 motor & 2 cab-trailer cars). The maximal quantity was twelve (6 motor cars, 4 trailers, and 2 cab-trailers.) The trains could be controlled and/or operated only from cab cars. DR1 Diesel Train
The DR1 diesel trainset was manufactured by Rīgas Vagonbūves Rūpnīca from 1963 for suburban commuter usage within the Soviet Union. In 2017 DR1 trainsets (different modifications) are still in use in Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. They remained in use by Edelaraudtee in Estonia until 2014. Modifications DR1 (first batch) — Introduced in 1963. On units DR1-01 through DR1-08, the shape of the front fascia was rounded and looked like that of ER1 electric multiple unit.
