Bela Stena
Bela Stena ( sr, Бела Стена) is an island resort in the Danube, located in the city of Pančevo in Serbia. Location Bela Stena is located from downtown Belgrade, on the western tip of the island of Forkontumac. Lido After World War I, Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes was formed, and the Danube ceased being a northern border of Serbia. Hence, the island of Forkontumac stopped being on the very borderline. Members of the Pančevo Youth Association organized fundraising and formed a society for establishing a beach ("bath") on the Forkontumac, where present Bela Stena is. In 1921, 20 cabins were placed on the beach, so as tables, chairs, a barrack which hosted a buffet, and shelters for guardsmen and cabin boys. The society leased a motorboat and a barge to transport citizens to the island. The beach was named Lido, after Lido di Venezia. Zemun
Zemun ( sr-cyrl, Земун, ; hu, Zimony) is a municipality in the city of Belgrade. Zemun was a separate town that was absorbed into Belgrade in 1934. It lies on the right bank of the Danube river, upstream from downtown Belgrade. The development of New Belgrade in the late 20th century expanded the continuous urban area of Belgrade and merged it with Zemun. The town was conquered by the Kingdom of Hungary in the 12th century and in the 15th century it was given as a personal possession to the Serbian despot Đurađ Branković. After the Serbian Despotate fell to the Ottoman Empire in 1459, Zemun became an important military outpost. Lido (Belgrade)
Lido ( Serbian Cyrillic: Лидо) is a non-residential urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of Zemun. Location Lido is located on the northern tip of the Great War Island, on the Danube. It is actually a small, pointed sandy beach without permanent residents, which covers just small fragment of the island, as the entire Great War Island is protected by the law and urbanization is not allowed. Characteristics It was named after the Lido in Venice and developed as a wild beach, as an alternative to the much popular and official beach and park of Ada Ciganlija. Despite being very popular among the inhabitants of Zemun, it never managed to come close to Ada Ciganlija's popularity. The beach is small, unattended and without almost any accommodations, except for several restaurants. Ada Ciganlija ( sr-cyr, Ада Циганлија, ), colloquially shortened to Ada, is a river island that has artificially been turned into a peninsula, located in the Sava River's course through central Belgrade, Serbia. The name can also refer to the adjoining artificial Lake Sava and its beach. To take advantage of its central location, over the past few decades, it was turned into an immensely popular recreational zone, most notable for its beaches and sports facilities, which, during summer seasons, can have over 100,000 visitors daily and up to 300,000 visitors over the weekend. Veliko Selo ( sr-cyr, Велико Село) is a suburban settlement of Belgrade, Serbia. It is located in the Belgrade's municipality of Palilula. Location Veliko Selo is located in the southern, Šumadija section of the municipality, 12 kilometers east of downtown Belgrade. As the easternmost settlement in the municipality of Palilula it is the ending point of the ''Slanački put'' (Slanci road) which connects it with Belgrade. Višnjica ( sr-cyr, Вишњица, ) is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of Palilula. The Lido, or Venice Lido ( it, Lido di Venezia), is an barrier island in the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy; it is home to about 20,400 residents. World War I
World War I (28 July 1914 11 November 1918), often abbreviated as WWI, was one of the deadliest global conflicts in history.
