''Bel Ami'' is a 1955 historical drama film directed by Louis Daquin and starring Anne Vernon, Renée Faure and Jean Danet.Williams p.150 It was a co-production between Austria, France and East Germany. Lukas Ammann (29 September 1912 – 3 May 2017) was a Swiss actor who appeared mainly in German and Swiss films and television shows. He continued to work steadily for over 60 years. He is best known for his title role in the German television series ''Graf Yoster''. Early life Lukas Amann's mother was a singer and his father a painter. After he saw Schiller's ''The Robbers'' at grammar school in Basel, he aspired to be an actor. Starting in 1933 he attended the acting school of Max Reinhardt in Berlin. In 1934, he left Germany with Heinrich Gretler for Switzerland. Because of his Jewish mother, he was discriminated against even in Switzerland. Anna Christina Maria "Christl" Mardayn (8 December 1896 in Vienna, Austria-Hungary – 24 July 1971) was an Austrian actress/singer. Life Anna Christina Maria Mardayn was the daughter of banker Oskar Maria Mardayn and his wife Henriette (née Fusek). After graduation she studied piano, dance and song at the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna. In 1920 she made her stage debut in the role of a diseased soubrette in '' The Dead Eyes'' by Eugen d'Albert. As Christl Mardayn she subsequently received a firm contract to the Vienna Volksoper . René Lefèvre, born René Paul Louis Lefèvre, (6 March 1898 – 23 May 1991) was a French actor and writer. Throughout his career, he worked with several notable directors, like Jean Renoir, Jean-Pierre Melville, Jules Dassin, and René Clair. Career Lefèvre made his debut in the 1920s when he acted in numerous films in small roles. His first film of note was ''Le Million'', directed by René Clair in 1931. He later had the fortune of starring in the title role in ''The Crime of Monsieur Lange'', directed by Jean Renoir. He kept appearing in films until the late 70s, landing a small role in Jean-Pierre Melville's ''Le Doulos'' in 1962. He died in 1991 in Poissy. Rosenhügel Studios
The Rosenhügel Studios are film studios located in the Austrian capital Vienna. They were opened in 1923 and originally owned by the Vita-Film production company. After the company's bankruptcy the following year the studios were taken over by Sascha Film, the largest of the Austrian companies of the era. In the early 1930s Sascha formed a partnership with the German outfit Tobis Film to renovate the studios for production of sound films. A number of Austrian hit films were produced there during the remainder of the decade. Following the Anschluss of 1938, the Austrian film industry was incorporated into that of Nazi Germany. Rosenhügel was taken over by the German-controlled Wien-Film under Karl Hartl.
