Before You Go Tonight
''Before You Go Tonight'' also known as ''Take Your Time'' is a Lynsey de Paul album recorded in 1976 for Jet Records, but shelved out of spite by then manager Don Arden, and not released until 1990. Then it appeared as a CD release in Japan on Century Records, and again on the Vivid Sound (with a different sleeve) under licence from Trojan Records. The album was originally called ''Singer-Songwriter'' and was finally released on de Paul's music store as ''Take Your Time'', albeit with a slightly different track listing. All of the songs were written by de Paul, except the amusing "You've Either Got It or You Ain't" (also known as "The Charisma Song"), which was co-written with David Jordan. The album was produced by de Paul. The track " If I Don't Get You The Next One Will" was released as a single in 1976 and this version is included (although a longer version was originally recorded especially for the album). Don Arden
Don Arden (born Harry Levy; 4 January 1926 – 21 July 2007) was an English music manager, agent, and businessman. He managed the careers of rock acts such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Air Supply, Small Faces, The Move, Black Sabbath and Electric Light Orchestra. Arden gained a reputation in Britain for his aggressive, sometimes illegal business tactics, which led to his being called "Mr Big", the "English Godfather" and the "Al Capone of Pop". His success story turned sour when his violent 'negotiating' methods and questionable accounting caught up with him, and he became estranged from members of his own family. He was married to Hope Shaw, a former ballet dancer/teacher, who died in 1999. He was the father of David Levy and Sharon Osbourne. The Independent
''The Independent'' is a British online newspaper. It was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper. Nicknamed the ''Indy'', it began as a broadsheet and changed to tabloid format in 2003. The last printed edition was published on Saturday 26 March 2016, leaving only the online edition. The compact disc (CD) is a Digital media, digital optical disc data storage format that was co-developed by Philips and Sony to store and play digital audio recordings. Rate Your Music (often abbreviated to RYM) is an online collaborative database of music releases and films. Users can catalog items from their personal collection, review them, and assign ratings in a five-star rating system. The site also features community-based charts that track highest-rated releases. History Rate Your Music was founded on December 24, 2000, by Seattle resident Hossein Sharifi, who is still active on the site under the username "sharifi". The first version of the site, "RYM 1.0," allowed users to rate and catalog releases, as well as to write reviews, create lists and add artists and releases to the database. Ringo Starr
Sir Richard Starkey (born 7 July 1940), known professionally as Ringo Starr, is an English musician, singer, songwriter and actor who achieved international fame as the drummer for the Beatles. Martian Man
"Martian Man" is a song written by Lynsey de Paul that was destined to be a track on her 1976 album ''Before You Go Tonight'' (aka ''Take Your Time''), but was shelved as part of a legal dispute with former manager Don Arden. Although the dispute was solved in de Paul's favour, the album was first released in 1990 in Japan as well as on a Best of.. CD (albeit as "My Martian Man") that was released in 1993. "Martian Man" finally appeared internationally as a track on de Paul's 2013 anthology CD, ''Into My Music: 1975-1979''. De Paul explained that the ethereal song is about former boyfriend and zany musician Roy Wood, hence the strange lyrics about a woman who falls in love with a stranded Martian. "He came to collect me at my flat and he's dyed his hair green - I thought he looked like a Martian", she said in the booklet to her ''Into My Music'' album. Roy Wood
Roy Wood (born 8 November 1946) is an English musician and singer-songwriter. He was particularly successful in the 1960s and 1970s as member and co-founder of the Move, Electric Light Orchestra and Wizzard. As a songwriter, he contributed a number of hits to the repertoire of these bands. Altogether he had more than 20 singles in the UK Singles Chart under various guises, including three UK No. 1 hits. ''All This and World War II'' is a 1976 musical documentary directed by Susan Winslow. It juxtaposes Beatles songs covered by a variety of musicians with World War II newsreel footage and 20th Century Fox films, in a manner meant by the filmmakers to be similar to the 1975 documentary ''Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?'' The film was severely mauled by critics and lasted just two weeks in cinemas before being pulled.
