Befandriana Sud
Befandriana Sud or Befandriana Atsimo is a town and commune in Madagascar. It belongs to the district of Morombe, which is a part of Atsimo-Andrefana Region. The population of the commune was estimated to be approximately 19,000 in 2001 commune census. Primary and junior level secondary education are available in town. The town provides access to hospital services to its citizens. The majority 70% of the population of the commune are farmers, while an additional 28% receives their livelihood from raising livestock. The most important crop is lima beans, while other important products are cassava, peas, rice and cowpeas. Services provide employment for 2% of the population. Roads The commune is crossed by the RN9 from Toliara (Tulear) to Mandabe. Cassava
''Manihot esculenta'', common name, commonly called cassava (), manioc, or yuca (among numerous regional names), is a woody shrub of the spurge family, Euphorbiaceae, native to South America. Mandabe is a town and commune ( mg, kaominina) in Madagascar. It belongs to the district of Mahabo, which is a part of Menabe Region. The population of the commune was estimated to be approximately 27,000 in 2001 commune census. An airport serves the commune. Primary and junior level secondary education are available in town. The town provides access to hospital services to its citizens. The majority 95% of the population of the commune are farmers, while an additional 4.5% receives their livelihood from raising livestock. Toliara
Toliara (also known as ''Toliary'', ; formerly ''Tuléar'') is a city in Madagascar. It is the capital of the Atsimo-Andrefana region, located 936 km southwest of national capital Antananarivo. The current spelling of the name was adopted in the 1970s, reflecting the orthography of the Malagasy language. Cowpea
The cowpea (''Vigna unguiculata'') is an annual herbaceous legume from the genus ''Vigna''. Its tolerance for sandy soil and low rainfall have made it an important crop in the semiarid regions across Africa and Asia. It requires very few inputs, as the plant's root nodules are able to fix atmospheric nitrogen, making it a valuable crop for resource-poor farmers and well-suited to intercropping with other crops.
