Beaverdam Creek (South Fork Blackwater River Tributary)
Beaverdam Creek (also spelled Beaver Dam Creek) is a stream in Pettis County in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is a tributary of the South Fork Blackwater River. The stream headwaters arise approximately one mile north of the community of La Monte at and it flows generally north about four miles parallel to and just east of Missouri Route 127 to its confluence with the South Fork approximately 2.5 miles east-northeast of the community of Stokley at . La Monte is a city in Pettis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,140 at the 2010 census. History La Monte was originally called Boomer, and under the latter name was platted in 1866. Beaver Dam
A beaver dam or beaver impoundment is a dam built by beavers to create a pond which protects against predators such as coyotes, wolves and bears, and holds their food during winter. These structures modify the natural environment in such a way that the overall ecosystem builds upon the change, making beavers a keystone species and ecosystem engineers. They build prolifically at night, carrying mud and stones with their forepaws and timber between their teeth.
