Beatles (song)
Sweden selected their entry for ESC 1977 in the show "Melodifestivalen 1977". The winner was the song "Beatles" by a group called Forbes. It was a tribute to the rock band The Beatles, who had split up some years earlier, and was written by Sven-Olof Bagge and Claes Bure. Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 1977 Melodifestivalen 1977 was the selection for the 17th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. Sweden did not participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 1976 due to the potential expenses if Sweden had won the contest again and due to demonstrations against commercial music. It was the 16th time that this system of picking a song had been used. 965 songs were submitted to SVT for the competition. Forbes was a Sweden, Swedish ''dansband'' (literal translation: "dance band") of the 1970s. The band represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 1977 with the entry "Beatles (song), Beatles". The song is about the United Kingdom, British band of the same name. Forbes ended in 18th and last place and got only two points. It was one of the worst placements ever for a Swedish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest. Kenneth Gärdestad
John Charles Kenneth Gärdestad (9 May 1948 – 3 March 2018) was a Swedes, Swedish songwriter, best known for writing lyrics for the songs of his brother, Ted Gärdestad. He participated at Melodifestivalen 1979 as a songwriter for the winning song "Satellit" performed by his brother. The song went on to Eurovision Song Contest, Eurovision the same year, where it placed 17th. Gärdestad was also an architect, affiliated to the private Kunskapsskolan, where he designed the interior of several of its high schools. Gärdestad published the biography ''Jag vill ha en egen måne'' in 2005. In later years he became a mental health activist, and created the "Ted Gärdestad Stipend", a prize awarded to amateur singers and songwriter. The Eurovision Song Contest 1963 was the eighth edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest and took place in London, United Kingdom. Eva Gunilla Johansson Rydberg (born 20 June 1943) is a Swedish singer, actress, comedian, revue-artist and dancer. Biography Early life Eva Rydberg was born in Malmö. She started ballet school at a young age and acted at a children's theater at Malmö Folkets Park. In her teens, she danced ballet at Malmö Stadsteater. When she learnt that Povel Ramel was searching for dancers for the Knäppupp-Revue at the Ideontheater in Stockholm, she sent in a photo and got the job. During the summer of 1960, she toured Sweden with Knäppupp during the Karl Gerhards Jubelsommar tour. She then went to the Cirkus Schumann in Copenhagen and then toured with Cirkus Bennewis. Svante Thuresson
Svante Thuresson (7 February 1937 – 10 May 2021) was a Swedish jazz musician. He started his career as a drummer before joining the band Gals and Pals in 1963. Svante won the national selection and represented Sweden in the Eurovision song contest in 1966 with ''Nygammal vals'' ("New, Old-Fashioned Waltz") and came in second place; he performed with Lill Lindfors. In 2007, Thuresson and Anne-Lie Rydé performed at Melodifestivalen 2007 as a duo in hopes of represent Sweden in the Eurovision, but failed to make it to the final. He died from a long-term illness on 10 May 2021, at the age of 84. Little Gerhard, (born ''Karl-Gerhard Lundkvist'', 17 May 1934) is a Swedish singer and rock musician. He had big music hits between 1958 and the mid-60s, with songs like "Buona Sera", "What You've Done to Me" and "Den siste mohikanen". Tomas Folke Jonas Ledin (; born 25 February 1952) is a Swedish singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer. He grew up in the town of Sandviken, Sweden and has sold 3 million records. Career Tomas Ledin started his career in 1972 when his first single, "Då ska jag spela", was a big hit. Other successful songs followed: "Blå, blå känslor" (1973), (covered by Björn Skifs), "Knivhuggarrock" (1975), "Festen har börjat" (1976), and "I natt är jag din" (1977).
