Bašić is a South Slavs, South Slavic surname. It is assumed that it derived from the word ''baša'', meaning "chief", itself a loanword from Turkish ''başı'', meaning "head". Its literal meaning is "Little chief". It is one of the most common surnames in two Dalmatian counties of Croatia. Relja Bašić
Relja Bašić (14 February 1930 – 7 April 2017) was a Croatian actor. With a career that lasted more than half a century, he is considered one of the most prolific performers of that country. Biography Bašić was born on 14 February 1930 in Zagreb, then Kingdom of Yugoslavia. He was born to a Jewish mother Elly (née Lerch) Bašić. Bašić was raised by his mother and stepfather Mladen Bašić. He first appeared on screen in 1954 classic film ''Koncert''. Through the decades, he played many different roles, often in international co-productions. He never became a star, but remained one of the most recognisable and dependable character actors. Lovre Bašić
Lovre Bašić (born 10 January 1995) is a Croatian professional basketball player currently playing for Zabok of the Croatian League. Standing at 1.90 m, he plays at the point guard position. Playing career Bašić grew up playing as a point guard for Zadar of the Croatian League. On the beginning of the 2015–16 season he became the second youngest captain in history of the club, Giuseppe Gjergja being the only younger one in 1957. Mirko Bašić (born 14 September 1960) is a Croatian former Team handball, handball player who competed for Yugoslavia men's national handball team, Yugoslavia in the 1984 Summer Olympics and in the 1988 Summer Olympics. Jasmin Bašić (born 7 December 1971) is a Bosnian tenor and author. He graduated in 2003 and obtained his Master of Music Degree (Vocal performance and pedagogy) from University of Sarajevo in 2006 under famous and world's recognized soprano Radmila Bakočević Belgrade (Serbia). Up to 2009, he specialized with the Wiener Staatsoper ''Kammersängerin'' Olivera Miljaković in Vienna (Austria). Josip Bašić (; born 2 March 1996) is a former Croatian professional footballer who played as a right back or right winger. He spent his whole career playing for Hajduk Split in the Prva HNL. He is notable for becoming the youngest debutant in league history in 2012. Mladen Bašić
Mladen Bašić (1 August 1917, Zagreb - 21 November 2012, Zagreb) was a Croatian pianist and conductor. Life and works Mladen Bašić studied piano, conducting and composition in the Zagreb Conservatory. His music career began in 1940 as a répétiteur. Since 1945 he worked as the conductor for the Opera of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, where from 1955 to 1958 he also worked as the opera director.
