Bayonne Energy Center is a power plant on Constable Hook in Bayonne, New Jersey originally built as a joint venture between Hess Corporation and ArcLight Capital Partners. it is operated by EthosEnergy. The 644-megawatt natural gas-fired plant came on line in 2012. It connects to a 6.5 mile, 345-kilovolt power line under the Upper New York Bay connecting with a Consolidated Edison substation in Gowanus in Brooklyn, New York which is the longest XLPE cable in the world. The submarine cable portion of the project is one of the most deeply buried submarine cables at 15 feet below New Jersey-New York Harbor bottom. Constable Hook
Constable Hook is a cape located on the north side of the outlet of Kill van Kull into Upper New York Bay in Bayonne, New Jersey. The cape has long been an important site of marine transfer operations in the Port of New York and New Jersey. Just offshore, Robbins Reef Light serves to guide harbor traffic. Since the late 20th century, brownfields have been repurposed for recreational and commercial uses. Historically the term Constable Hook was used more broadly to be synonymous with Bergen Point as defining the southern extent of Bergen Neck and of Bergen Township when established in 1693. Hudson Generating Station was a power plant operated by PSEG Fossil LLC, a subsidiary of Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG). It was located in Jersey City in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. The site was in operation from 1906 to 2017, but as of 2011 only one unit was in operation at the facility – Unit 2, which ran primarily on coal to generate electricity and was also capable of burning natural gas as a secondary fuel.
