Bawa Karma
''Bawa Karma'' ( si, italic=yes, භවකර්ම) is a 1997 Sri Lankan drama film directed by Dharmasiri Bandaranayake and co-produced by Ven. Vijayapura Pagngnananna Thero and Jayaratne Wadduwage for Samadhi Films. This film is the sequel of ''Bawa Duka''. It stars Swarna Mallawarachchi, Jackson Anthony and Ravindra Randeniya in lead roles along with Kamal Addararachchi and W. Jayasiri. Music composed by Gunadasa Kapuge. It is the 886th Sri Lankan film in the Sinhala cinema. The film won a Special Jury Award for Direction and the Presidential Award for Best Screenplay. Plot The family continue their existence with Nona Hami the sole breadwinner. Her lost son Giran, who was believed to have drowned, appears one day with a pastor who had saved his life and is taking care of him. Dharmasiri Bandaranayake
Dr. Dharmasiri Bandaranayake (born 06th of October 1949) is a Sri Lankan film director and playwright. Particularly work as a playwright, Bandaranayake is an artist who attempts to connect the sociopolitical environment with the civil society through art. Career Bandaranyake's debut ''Hansa Vilak'' in 1980 dealt with facets of a society at odds with itself. His other films like ''Thunveni Yamaya'' (1983), ''Suddilage Kathaawa'' (1984), ''Bawa Duka'' and ''Bawa Karma'' (1997) followed similar themes. Addararachchige Gunendra Kamal (born on 5 February 1962: si, කමල් අද්දරආරච්චි), popularly as Kamal Addararachchi, is an actor in Sri Lankan Sri Lankan cinema, theatre and television, as well as a singer and presenter. Simon Navagattegama lso spelled Nawagattegama (September 15, 1940 – October 9, 2005) was a Sinhala novelist, Sinhala Radio Play writer, playwright and actor. He is well known for his novel Sansararanye Dhadayakkaraya (Hunter in the wilderness of the Sansara) for its magical realism which is influenced by Buddhist mythologies, Mahayana Buddhist concepts and Freudian and Jungian psychoanalysis. Literary style K. K. Saman Kumara, a literary critic and writer in Sri Lanka, calls Simon as the predecessor of magical realism in Sri Lanka and calls his literary style as a Buddhist Borgesian one.
