Battle Of Popasna
The battle of Popasna was a military engagement between joint Russian- LPR forces and Ukrainian forces in the city of Popasna in the Luhansk Oblast. The battle began on 18March and ended on 7May2022 and was part of the 2022 Battle of Donbas during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Background A city of over 22,000 people before the invasion, Popasna was an important regional hub with numerous roadway junctions key to the Russian advance during the eastern Ukraine offensive. Battle Russian-Ukrainian clashes for the heavily fortified city began on 18 March 2022. Regionally, troops of the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) and the Russian Armed Forces advanced and captured Kreminna farther to the north on 18 April. Popasna
Popasna (, rus, Попасная, r=Popasnaya) is a ruined city in the Sievierodonetsk Raion, Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine. In 2013, it had almost 22,000 inhabitants. Prior to 2020, it was the administrative center of the former Popasna Raion. In 2022, the city was completely destroyed and occupied by Russia, which later claimed the region's annexation among all the other Russian-occupied territories. According to Russia, since then it is located within Russia's Luhansk People's Republic. History During World War II, in 1941–1943, the German occupiers operated a Nazi prison in the town. Rubizhne
Rubizhne ( uk, Рубі́жне, Rubížne, ; rus, Рубе́жное, Rubéžnoye, links=1, rʊˈbʲeʐnəjə) is a city located in Luhansk Oblast in eastern Ukraine. Oleksiy Miacheslavovych Danilov ( uk, Олексій Мячеславович Данілов; born 7 September 1962) is a Ukrainian politician. He is the current Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (since 3 October 2019).
