Casaletto Spartano is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. History The town has medieval origins and originated around the settlement of ''Spartoso'', from which it derives the toponym, changed in ''Spartano'', that literally means "Spartan". Geography Located in southern Cilento, between the Cilentan Coast and the Vallo di Diano, Casaletto Spartano is a hilltown located in the middle of a large forest area part of Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park. Nearest settlements are Battaglia and Tortorella. The town is crossed by Bussentino, a tributary creek of Bussento river. The municipal territory borders with Basilicata region and with the municipalities of Casalbuono, Caselle in Pittari, Lagonegro, Morigerati, Rivello, Sanza, Torraca, Tortorella and Vibonati. Cilentan Dialect
The Cilentan dialect (in it, Cilentano, in Cilentan: or ) is a Neapolitan dialect spoken in the area of Cilento, located in the southern part of the Province of Salerno, Campania, Italy. Influences It has been influenced, especially in the Vallo di Diano and in central Cilento, by the Basilicata language as spoken in Potenza and part of its Province of Potenza. In the towns of northern Cilento close to the urban area of Salerno (for example Agropoli, Capaccio and Paestum), the language is mainly influenced by Neapolitan, more specifically by the Salernitan dialect. In the southern corner of Cilento, the language is largely influenced by Sicilian, particularly the Calabrian variety of Sicilian. Torraca is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. History The LED city In 2007, the town spent 280,000 euro to convert all its 700 street lamps to LED technology - a first in Europe - and thereby reduced its energy and maintenance costs by 70%. Sanza is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of southern Italy. History It is a small town placed on a hill surrounded by mountains. In ancient times it was protected by walls and there were few gates to access the village. Geography The town is bordered by Buonabitacolo, Casalbuono, Casaletto Spartano, Caselle in Pittari, Monte San Giacomo, Montesano sulla Marcellana, Piaggine, Rofrano, Sassano and Valle dell'Angelo.
