Hugo Batalla Parentini (July 11, 1926 – October 3, 1998), Uruguayan politician, was Vice President of Uruguay from 1995 to 1998 during the presidency of Julio María Sanguinetti. Background His political activity started in the Colorado Party with Zelmar Michelini. Batalla was elected ''diputado'' for the Department of Montevideo from 1962–66 and 1967–71, and was President of the Chamber of Deputies of Uruguay from 1969 to 1970. He was also a member of the Latin American Parliament and Vice-President from 1968–69. He split from Colorado in 1971 to form the '' Frente Amplio'' with Michelini, and was re-elected ''diputado'' from 1972 until the instauration of the military dictatorship in June 1973. Pablo Batalla
Pablo Martín Batalla (; born January 16, 1984), is an Argentine football midfielder who plays for Deportivo Roca where he also works as a sporting director. Career Batalla started his career with Club Atlético Vélez Sársfield in 2003, he has had two spells with the club, also playing for C.F. Pachuca in Mexico and for Quilmes Atlético Club during their relegation season in Clausura 2007. Batalla signed for Bursaspor for the start of the Turkish Super League 2009–2010 season. On 19 February 2014, Batalla transferred to Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan but returned to Bursaspor in late January 2016. He scored his first goal at the 2015–16 season of the Süper Lig against Eskişehirspor on 27 February 2016. Perla Batalla (born 1964) is an American vocalist, composer and arranger who first gained international attention as a backup singer for Leonard Cohen before embarking on a solo career at his encouragement. Her debut album, ''Perla Batalla'', was released on Discovery Records in 1994. She formed her own record label, Mechuda Music, and released the album ''Mestiza'' (meaning of mixed blood) in 1998, making sales through her website. ''Discoteca Batalla'' (2002) was recorded as an homage to her parents' record shop of the same name. A battaglia is a form of Renaissance and Baroque programme music imitating a battle. The Renaissance form is typically in the form of a madrigal for four or more voices where cannons, fanfares, cries, drum rolls, and other noises of a battle are imitated by voices. The Baroque form is more often an instrumental depiction of a battle.
