Bassam Al-Rawi
Bassam Hisham Ali Al-Rawi ( ar, بسام هشام الراوي; born 16 December 1997) is a Qatari professional footballer who plays as a defender for Al-Duhail and the Qatar national football team. Personal life Born in Iraq, Bassam was naturalized to represent the Qatar national team. Bassam's father, Hisham Al-Rawi, played for the Iraq national football team in the 1990s. Bassam attended school in Qatar before being admitted to the Aspire Academy. International career 2019 AFC Asian Cup Bassam was included in Félix Sánchez Bas' Qatari squad for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates. He made his first international goal on 9 January 2019 against Lebanon. On 22 January, he scored his second international and the winning goal for Qatar against his country of origin, Iraq, which helped his team reach the quarter-finals of the competition. The 2019 AFC Asian Cup Final was a football match which determined the winner of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, the 17th edition of the AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial tournament contested by the men's national teams of the member associations of the Asian Football Confederation. The match was held at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on 1 February 2019 and was contested by Japan and Qatar. Emir of Qatar Cup ( ar, كأس أمير قطر), also known as the Emir Cup, but changed to Amir Cup starting in 2019, is an association football tournament played every season by 18 first and second division teams. The most successful is Al Sadd who won the tournament 18 times. Emir of Qatar Cup was played for the first time in 1972, and was won by Al Ahli. History Al Ahli SC won the first ever Emir of Qatar Cup, defeating Al-Rayyan SC 6-1 under the leadership of Sudanese coach Mohammed Kheiri. The Qatar Stars League ( ar, دوري نجوم قطر), or the QSL, also called QNB Stars League for sponsorship reasons, is the top level football league in Qatar football league system. Contested by 12 teams, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Qatari Second Division (QSD). Seasons of the QSL usually run from September to April. The league's first season was played in 1963, although the first official season occurred in 1972. 2019 AFC Asian Cup Knockout Stage
The knockout stage of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup was the second and final stage of the competition, following the group stage. It began on 20 January with the round of 16 and ended on 1 February with the final match, held at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi. A total of 16 teams (the top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed teams) advanced to the knockout stage to compete in a single-elimination style tournament. All times are local, GST (UTC+4). Format In the knockout stage, if a match is level at the end of 90 minutes of normal playing time, extra time was played (two periods of 15 minutes each). Group E of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup took place from 8 to 17 January 2019. The group consisted of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Lebanon and North Korea. The top two teams, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, advanced to the round of 16. However, third-placed Lebanon missed out qualification to the knockout stage by fair play points to Vietnam.
